Why Liberals Should Vote for Marco Rubio
The Atlantic ^ | February 29, 2016 | by Peter Beinart

Posted on 02/29/2016 12:57:59 PM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

Democrats must do everything they can to prevent Donald Trump’s nomination-like supporting the one man with a chance to beat him.

Marco Rubio would be a terrible president.

Still, if I lived in any of the nine Super Tuesday states that allow non-Republicans to vote in their GOP presidential primary, I would vote for Rubio. Other liberals should do the same. Those who can should write him checks. Whatever it takes to stop the nomination of Donald Trump.

There are three arguments against what I’m proposing.

Argument number one is that, from a liberal perspective, Rubio is not the best candidate in the GOP field. John Kasich is. But as a vehicle for stopping Trump, Kasich is useless.

Argument number two is that Rubio’s not much better than Trump.

The third argument against liberals supporting Rubio is that America will benefit if Trump destroys the Republican Party. If the GOP splits, or loses massively this fall, then perhaps moderates will regain influence and the Republican Party-or whatever supplants it—will stop denying climate change, stop refusing to vote on judges, and stop pushing the United States to the brink of financial default.

If we fail, we should implore conservatives to help stop Trump by backing Hillary Clinton. Although the polarization in American politics today is vast, there are still norms that both decent liberals and decent conservatives cherish, and do not wish to see smashed. Across the ideological divide, it’s time to close ranks.

Why Liberals Should Vote for Marco Rubio

He does have the support of the GOPe so I guess they were already planning on voting for him.

A good part of Rubio’s support is from liberals who want Hillary to win the presidency.

The media wants Rubio to be the candidate so he could lose.

The vermin on the left and the vermin in the GOPe are scared sh*tless of Donald J. Trump, and with good reason. He’s going to end their criminal power structure they’ve been running for the past 60 years.

[Republicans] will stop denying climate change, stop refusing to vote on judges, and stop pushing the United States to the brink of financial default.

Does this clown really think it's the Republicans who are causing the problems with the economic system? True, the establishment GOP has had power for several years now, but have been totally INEPT at using it. (McConnell, you paying attention?) I think a Democrat in the WH for another four years spells doom for this Republic. If another establishment GOP wins, it may last a few years longer. We desperately need a change in direction.

probably a Hillbot, seeing that Peter is a Jew. This is like Operation Chaos but in Spanish. Rubio needs to take my luggage up to my suite or I will not tip him.

I can’t name one position that Trump has been conservative on for at least two years. Furthermore, he is a billionaire businessman from NY. He is part of the criminal power structure.

They should vote for Rubio because Rubio is a liberal. Anything to the left of Rubio is socilaist.

The author does not mention a fourth reason that liberals should support Rubio - they are beginning to think that Trump has a chance of beating Clinton.

Too little, too late. The 2016 Republican Primary effectively ends tomorrow.
