There’s a good case to be made for the thesis that a Caesar who doesn’t try to churchify the state, leaves more room for the church to thrive and, yes, encourage better morals and better share the word of eternal salvation. Because now we don’t have the state pretending to a mission it never had, and likewise the church.
I think Cruz means well, but he’s theologically confused.
