Billionaire and millionaire GOP donors have wasted more than half a billion dollars collectively in trying to take down 2016 Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, a new report from the Center for Public Integrity published by Time Magazine shows.
Just on GOP candidates that have since dropped out of the race against Trump, the report found, donors have wasted a whopping $520 million. That amount doesnt account for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97% or Ohio Gov. John Kasich, the only two remaining out of 16 total candidates against Trump.

So far, donors have funneled more than $520 million collectively into campaigns and outside groups supporting Republican presidential candidates who have now dropped out and the primaries are far from over. Only U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Trump remain in the Republican presidential primary, and theyre aggressively courting those who once wrote checks to their opponents.

I hope they lose every red cent. #TrumpCard
The Cheap Labor Express will spend whatever it takes to prevent the citizens from electing anyone who would shut them down.
It’s strange. I’ve heard this reported, but earlier in the race I heard some complaining that Cruz and Rubio et al, were spending more money attacking each other than Trump. Maybe that has drastically changed? I don’t know.
They really do need to be taxed more. /s
Personally, I find this amusing.
“Low Information Donors”! Love it!
Trump has out smarted them all, so far.
The money could have gone to house and senate races. What a waste.
Not all waste, most of it is the usual voluntary income redistribution among the elites. Payoffs to the usual suspects in the press, media, and consultant class.
True, but since when has the GOPe cared about winning? All they care about is keeping the crooked crony system alive.
Over a half billion dollars? That’s a lot of dinaro to lose being losers. LoL.
“Only U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Trump remain in the Republican presidential primary, and theyre aggressively courting those who once wrote checks to their opponents.”
Trump is NOT aggressively courting those who once wrote checks ...hahaha, especially checks to defeat him!!
Losing control of the party they bought and paid for. A$$holes!
The problem with your post is we keep electing the same hacks
and expect a different result.
Sending them back over and over again is not the answer.
The donors can’t get their money back, so they resent Trump and want to stop him now. It may be too late for the donors who wasted their money.
Maybe Romney spends his time and money attacking Trump. Why didn’t he attack Obama when he had the chance? Now Romney is Mr. Attack Man but against Trump.
I just figured it out. They could buy the others but not Trump. Now all that money is wasted and they can’t buy Trump.
Very good question!
most of it probably went to hookers in DC, so whatever.
the good news is that now they won’t have that money to spread around when the next defining moment occurs.
