Drinking (doing shots), in a motel room, in your “shorts”, with a woman not your wife, pointing a rifle out the window of the motel. Did not keep hands on ground as ordered.

What could go wrong?

Given they wont release the footage of him shooting the guy, plus that they are charging him, it seems dead on correct.

They almost never charge officers with murder. The fact they did is proof they cannot wiggle him out of it. They would be sued for conspiracy and not upholding the law.

A female cop shot a homeless guy for remarking back to her.

Cops shoot dogs on leashes in yards for barking at them. Like they do to any stranger.

When did you leave Mayberry?

What else would a cop put on a gun? It seems the other cop thought he was doing something stupid to, then this cop fired on him so he could go home alive. Put yourself in the cops shoes a moment. The dead guy sticks a gun outside a window? A lot of stupidity even reaching for your boxers when a scared cop has a weapon on you.

Enough questions all around, so the DA says take it to a jury. Seems like a good decision. See what a jury says with all of the facts we don’t know. Verbally complying is a way to make your case on camera while planning something else....that’s what I would do. Cops have to weigh that, split second. Tattoos could be from a previous life. They don’t indicate violent behavior, just wasted money.

I always supported the cops through my business for 17 years including the vest program but my defense attorney cousin is right that the police officer is not necessarily your friend. Best thing is don’t get yourself in a situation.

I agree, they would not be charging him with murder unless it so clearly is murder that they cannot avoid it.

“He’s a gear queer alright... everything wrong with Cops today.”

This man’s family needs to sue the Mesa PD for millions! The idea that this guy could become a cop is a travesty!

“The widow has retained Mark Geragos, celebrity lawyer to the stars. First shot across the bow, $55 million”

Excellent starting point1 It needs to go up from there until Mesa’s insurance runs out and the city has to pony up.

To me the biggest offense seems to be the unarmed dead guy.

I would not hire him for anything because of those tats.

The problem is that many-many times the police gets a bum-rap, they are being accused of all kind of things, when in fact they are acting very reasonably. Of course there probably are a few who don’t act reasonably. It is hard to tell just from a news story.

Agreed. There is a HUGE gap and no time frame from the article where he’s ‘drinking and pointing the air rifle out the window’ and ‘cops arrive’.
The article stinks, but the fact that he’s charged with 2nd degree speaks pretty loudly.
