Republican officials in Texas may find themselves debating secession at the state GOP convention in Dallas this May 12-14 due to a surge in resolutions passed at the county level.

A Nederland-based activist group called the Texas Nationalist Movement claims at least 22 resolutions on a secession vote have passed, which puts pressure on GOP officials to discuss the issue at the state's convention. The Houston Chronicle confirmed passage of 10 resolutions before its story was published Friday.

Texas Nationalist Movement said just one resolution passed four years ago.

"I absolutely think the people should have an opportunity to vote on this issue," tea-party activist Jared Woodfill of Houston said, the newspaper reported.

I would like to see Texas, Oklahoma and all the states of the Old South secede and call themselves the Free States of America.

The biggest problem would be the Californians.

they would have huge border control problem keeping people out.

But, will they allow expat Texans back in if they can produce proof of Texas birth?

Of equal concern - what will the requirements be to become a naturalized Texan? My feet don't like western boots (though I'm okay on the pickup truck and firearms qualifiers). ;-)

The issue that might cause a real movement would be guns made illegal by the supreme court. Texas would have to be the leader in such a thing, but I have no doubt Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama would follow Texas. Georgia maybe, though the Atlanta metro would make that interesting.

But, I don’t know what other issue would cause it. Maybe going directly after churches.

I think the liberal establishment knows this though, which is why they go for the drip drip drip.

As fun as it may be to think of, or even making plans for Texas becoming it’s own country (again), or threads where the United States are divided up, giving the libtards certain areas and *conservatives* getting others, this is almost exactly what the establishment of the Uniparty wants! This is what those who see themselves as ‘visionaries’ and ‘big thinkers’ (Bush’s, Petraeus, Soros, Clinton’s, Chamber of Cheap Labor, CFR members, and the BANKERS) believe is the future: a North American Union, divided up into regions. They see the border with Mexico, Canada, and even state and provincial lines becoming nothing more than historical markers of sorts. Their ‘big picture’ thinking sees all these ‘regions’ on a common economic level with the average daily wages of Mexico being the same as the daily wages for those of us in the United States. Removal of Texas, or any state for that matter, from the United States would be a giant leap forward in the globalist’s plans of destroying the sovereignty of the U.S. in favor of creating a North American Union much the same as they made the European Union. Wonder how well that E.U. is working out for people over there.

The United States needs Texas and Texans to remain the greatest nation on the planet, just like it needs all the other 57 states. Yes, Texas would make an awesome country, but in choosing to do such, would irreparably damage the United States, and Texas on its own would never come close to being the global super power and beacon of freedom and liberty all 50 of the United States of America is (despite the current socialists attacks from within).

It is precisely the infantile belief in such utter nonsense on full display here, totally disconnected from the reality of the rank tyranny that the now-defunct USA has become, that wholly legitimizes the Texas succession movement. Very simply, we are not now what we once were.

Based on what I’ve seen today, nothing would wake up the ruling class.

Absolutely, plus Tennesseans for their Valor at the Alamo and Coonasses, just because it will be trouble if we Don't.

Yes, If the banner of the New Orleans Greys is on display inside the Alamo, I'd say that the Coonasses, ahem, Louisianans, are well-entitled to citizenship in the Republic.

The border States are being absolutely screwed by the open borders aspect of globalization. Texas could pull it off but the US government would never allow it.

May cooler heads prevail. Otherwise, we may find ourselves in a shooting war.

Texas has plenty of kooks and rattlesnakes. We just need a real constitution with real courts and LOTS of military protection (some nukes) to keep things straight.

All the Islamists, commies and socialists (and liberal-tarians) would move north where they could enforce Allah, gay sex and abortion on the public. A lot of decent American-American people would want to come to Texas. Liberals would go insane with hatred if this happened.
