Anyone who has paid a visit to the Whole Foods flagship store in Austin, knows the location is the gem in the pricey grocery chains organic crown. As one reviewer once put it: The 80,000-square-foot market, bar, eatery, makeup counter and pick-up joint (we suspect) makes our local branches look like the neighborhood 7-11.
But one visitor to the Austin location says he was not so enthusiastic about a recent trip. An openly gay pastor in the city where Whole Foods was founded has filed a lawsuit against the chain, claiming it sold him a cake that read Love Wins F-g.
But commenters on social media wondered why the pastor didnt immediately notice the anti-gay slur, accusing him of altering the cake, as did Whole Foods, which countersued, claiming that the pastor made fraudulent accusations.
In a video posted last week, Jordan Brown of Austins Church of Open Doors said he ordered a cake from Whole Foods meant to read Love Wins a slogan associated with the movement to legalize same-sex marriage. But when he picked up the cake April 14, it had a quite different message, he said.
When I got into my vehicle, I looked inside and saw they had wrote Love Wins F-g on it, Brown said, holding a receipt he said was from the cake. You can see it nice and clear. Also, it is still in a sealed box. As you see, I have not opened up this box yet.
And here’s a statement from Whole Foods concerning this incident:
“After a deeper investigation of Mr. Browns claim, we believe his accusations are fraudulent and we intend to take legal action against both Mr. Brown and his attorney, the company wrote in a statement that laid out its case as follows:
Our bakery team member wrote Love Wins at the top of the cake, which was visible to Mr. Brown through the clear portion of the packaging. Thats exactly how the cake was packaged and sold at the store. Whole Foods Market has a strict policy that prohibits team members from accepting or designing bakery orders that include language or images that are offensive.
Mr. Brown admits that he was in sole possession and control of the cake until he posted his video, which showed the UPC label on the bottom and side of the box.
After reviewing our security footage of Mr. Brown, its clear that the UPC label was in fact on top of the cake box, not on the side of the package. This is evident as the cashier scans the UPC code on top of the box.
If I have a cake baked I always check it out before I even pay for it, as I suspect most people do.
Hoax. Gayest department, in the gayest store, in the gayest city in Texas.

Now businesses are going to deny pastors cakes.
The writing doesn’t even match.
It isn’t very decorative writing, centered, or the same color as the edging like one would expect from a bakery. One would think he would be complaining of the poor craftsmanship.
Style-wise and width of piping, too. Yeah. Hoax. Plus, I read the manager of that store mentioned the person who actually made the cake was a homosexual, too, but haven't seen it anywhere else, yet, and can't remember where I saw it. Odds are very low that this is anything but a hoax.
My mom used to bake and decorate birthday and wedding cakes. That’s the first thing I noticed.
It’s been out for two days that he was scamming Whole Foods. The cake at the check out is on tape and doesn’t look like the tampered one. The likely reason for the scam is he was served papers on an outstand student loan. As always, follow the money.
I’m just watching this with some little interest, as a leftist organisation gets a very slight taste of its own medicine, very slight, as they’re on the “right side”, in this culture, of the issue.
Also, the store will doubtless have samples chemically analyzed. Doubtless two different batches of frosting.
Karma, at least on a small scale.
Yep. But they’ll be fine, as they support sodomy. Now if they ever get sued, if that’s even possible in the future, for a child being harmed by a pervert in the wrong bathroom...but things are getting so sick in this country, even that might pass.
Kinda funny this happened in Austin, of all places.
No it sure doesn’t. He used a different size icing tip than the bakery did, the color is not exactly the same either.
