I need some advice. I went to my lunch group, conservative ladies, yesterday and they were all Cruz supporters. I understand they need to go through some grieving process, but their views on Cruz were 180 degrees away from mine. It was really surreal. How can people view things so differently? I did not say anything and left early. I may not go back for a few weeks.

Give them time to grieve.

You were right, and they were all wrong.

Next time, steer the conversation to where we go from here: Trump or Hillary?

It cannot be Hillary, and they will soon realize that.

If they persist, point out how Cruz was the cause of his own failure—the lies, the delegate manipulation, the Glenn Back alliance, the Kasich alliance, the Carly VP appointment, his public meltdown on the day of the Indiana primary—all showed he is not the man for the job.

If they reject all of that—then it is time for a new lunch group.

Otherwise your IQ will be lowered.

I tuned into Rush yesterday.

I could not believe how grieved he was about Cruz losing. He seemed to be VERY emotionally invested in Cruz. I don’t know how anyone could feel that way. It made me realize how much Rush must despise Trump because of all of the negative things he said about Cruz, especially the Lyin’ Ted nickname.

Apparently he had what he “thought” was a friend text him when Cruz got out. The friend expressed his relief that Cruz was out, as he couldn’t listen to the sap any longer. Well, Rush was livid - you could tell he no longer wanted that person for a friend. I found that a little odd. I know people who like Cruz, and dislike Trump. We can express opinions without risk of losing friendship. Rush was so fond of Cruz that he dumps a friend who is turned off by Cruz.

Sorry for the diatribe - the whole thing just struck me as odd.

MustKnowHistory...gee. Toughie.

For what its worth... even if you only see one spark of helpful info here;
I M H O

This is similar to experiencing the death of a close friend. I think most of the phases of loss will apply,i.e. denial, anger, etc.

When someone experiences a tragic or terrIble loss, they need to talk about it, obviously.

Someone one once told me that the grieving person should seek out 5 or so different people that they can bear their souls to...get it all out and truely grieve. At that point, ostensibly, the grieving person can begin the healing process further.

There is no reason this is different for Cruz supporters, as opposed to other losses, as some of them (Cruz supporters) really are attached to him and his message. It is a very personal loss for many of them. Something to recognize I suppose.

Now, throw in the situation at hand...a major election year with emotions flying all over..gee.

Good luck.

-- How can people view things so differently? --

Humans are strange creatures, and there are many possibilities for people to reach opposing conclusions. A powerful influence is "peer pressure." Most people will adopt a point of view they KNOW is wrong, given the right kind of pressure, which can be nothing more than fitting in with their friends.

You did good to politely excuse yourself. Political persuasion is a sure fire way to kill friendship.

I understand what you’re saying. One of my pastor’s wives posted on FB yesterday about how she is feeling “very discouraged.” A lot of people at my church were supporting Cruz. One of my friends in church told me last week she prayed about it and voted for Cruz. Since she’s a good friend, I looked her in the eye on Sunday and told her “Cruz is done.” Hoping all these people at my church will end up supporting Trump...

There were two Cruzes as we know. If you believed Levin/Limbaugh all of the accusations were false and he walked on water. If you looked into his behind the scenes lies and believed them he was a snake. Your friends did not believe them and he was the only Born Again Christian in the race and that’s what they believed.

It is a new day and now Trump is the only one in the race so they will begin to give him a new look and start understanding why he is a better choice.

I understand. I listened to Laura Ingraham and people calling in were saying the same as you on Cruz supporters. They tied to take the mantle of being the only conservative PURIST and anyone not agreeing is looked down upon and made to look stupid.

The way Cruz was so disrespectful to the Trump supporter here in INDIANA was a prime example of their attitude. They took the high ground we didn’t. We opened the tent as we’ve been told to do and they turned their backs. Yes, we need them but as Laura says its their move NOT ours.

They were sucked into the Cruz campaign early - Cruz asking for money and people giving it creates a bond too. So they didn’t believe or ignored all the things he did.

They feel the same way we would if Trump suspended his campaign. We’d need time to readjust too.

Trump took the first step by saying nice things about Cruz. Let that sink in. When/if Cruz endorses Trump, that’ll help them shift their support too.

Do not take it so personally about your luncheon friends, you would be VERY SURPRISED at how many people in this nation have NO SENSE of people skills, they can’t SEE people for who they really are, look at how many women end up with men who abuse them! I had a VERY good girlfriend years ago who started dating this guy, I mean this guy was showering her with flowers and gifts she was just head over heals, but my antenna went straight up when I met him, I tried to tell her not to be just looking at the flowers and gifts but LOOK HARD at the person !!!!! Little by little she was cut off from her family and friends, she was being battered and mentally degraded!!! I KNEW the minute I met the guy that SOMETHING was off she couldn’t SEE it if it jumped up and bit her in the face!!! Some people socially can’t not SEE the good or bad in people they just don’t have that instinct!!! DON’T take it to personally just consider yourself blessed to have been given that instinct!!!

I think it’s because we all prioritize. I have thought about this a lot, about FReepers I really looked up to, who did not see the fight betweenCruz and Trump as I did, and I was really upset about it. We all prioritize differently.

I think people who caught on to Trump realized the dire straits of this country. That our Constitution is used as toilet paper most of the time u less it is convenient to our ruling class. And we see that we are no different from serfs in a ruling class! No different. Sure, we can vote. But the ruling class stacks the decks so they have one of their own on each side and let us play the game of blue vs red jerseys. They only care that one of THEIRS gets in, and since the sides are stacked with people they’ve bought, or will buy easily, they are happy to let both sides rah rah about abortion etc.

But we see that and how trapped like serfs we are despite the “government by, for, and of the people” rhetoric. So we DARE reach beyond the jerseys for anyone who MIGHT get us out of this “kingdom.”

Some of us may have been thinking, only another revolution will free us, and our sons will have to die. (I was.) Then along comes a man with enough resources to be free of the global ruling class, the cheap labor express, and we wonder: COULD HE DO IT? COULD HE AT LEAST HELP GET US FREE? He is open about what the globalist rulers are doing to this country. No one else even dared TALK about it.

So we go for it. And we don’t care that he likes things the blue jerseys like. That he has supported the blue jerseys. Who cares? We see the stupid Dem vs Rep games like they are. A petty little fight to distract us while the globalists destroy the country for their own gain.

All that is without talking about the actual person most liked by the red jerseys. We will leave that for the moment.

The country needs saving from the globalist cabal who are beyond lib and conservative. Those are just terms for how to govern a free country. Since we don’t have one, they are moot. We get this and our friends seem not to.

Our Cruz friends seem to see that the top priority is the war between red and blue. They just can’t put it down even for a second. Red jerseys are the enemy, in their mind. It is like a black ant wanting to fight the red ant in front of him, not seeing the human boot rapidly approaching both of them from the sky.

So they choose the guy in the deepest red jersey. It happens to be Ted Cruz. No matter what, they will not fail to support him because their top priority is governing in the red way, and having an edge on the ever present blue jerseys. Period.

And that is why they stick with Cruz no matter how much he lies. And they are correct: we will stick with Trump no matter what crazy thing he says, no matter how he’s been with women in the past, or given to the blue team. We have different priorities. They haven’t seen that our fight needs to be expanded MUCH BIGGER. I guess they don’t see that the red team is part of the evil kingdom.

If they would start reading up on the Bushes, they might start to realize the truth. Maybe buy them one of the books that deals with them, and ask to read it and just tell me what you think.

My mom was a Cruzite. Haven’t talked to her since Tuesday. Will give her some time.
