Dear Freepers
Basil, suffered a stroke in early January. It left her paralyzed on her right side and unable to speak. She's got very limited speech and her mental faculties are diminished. She spent many weeks in a therapeutic hospital but when it became apparent that her condition wouldn't improve, our family decided she'd be much happier at home. Hopefully we can minimize her suffering and keep her comfortable. Please pray for her, and Mr. Basil who is an amazing care giver and hasn't left her side.

I am so sorry to learn this. I met basil at the FR Inauguration party for GW Bush in DC. She’s a special lady, and she has my prayers.

Basil will be in my prayers. My wife had a similar outcome from a stroke 3 years ago. It is tough on the family, too.

I am saddened for all involved. I remember her postings over the years.
My wife and I will pray for her. My wife’s father had a stroke, but he was able to work through it over several years.
Please be patient. Abilities can come back, but it requires the brain to reroute and that takes time. Keep her going and continue being the great daughter you are.
