BATON ROUGE, La. A Senate committee in Louisiana has rejected a bill that would protect pastors who decline to officiate same-sex weddings, asserting that the move would be discriminatory.
As sexual liberty is elevated, we dont want religious liberty to take a back seat and be pushed off the cliff, said Rep. Mike Johnson, R-Bossier City, who introduced the legislation in March.
A legally recognized church or faith under state or federal tax law or regulation, or a religious organization
may not be required by the state to solemnize a marriage, nor provide access to facilities, services, accommodations, goods, or privileges of the church, faith, or religious organization for a purpose related to the solemnization, formation, or celebration of the marriage, if the actions would be contrary to church doctrine, practice or in violation of the religious beliefs and principles of the clergy, church, or religious organization, H.B. 597 reads.

Every church should be set up as a private club. Pay the property taxes and stop selling out to the government.
Sadly, I believe many, if not most, pastors are okay with all the LBGT crap.
Amazing. The true church will be forced underground. A lot of pastors over the last 40 years have said it, but I never thought I would see it in my lifetime, just amazing.
I guess that means that any pastor must perform a ceremony for anyone of any religion or belief.
14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
It is not enough to “vote them out”. There should be total, unbridled outrage! Fill the streets with screams of righteousness!
I suppose a pastor can’t refuse to marry me to my dog......asserting that the move would be discriminatory.
It would be nice if that clause had any legal meaning.
Payback comes the next election. Those pastors should run.
It does have legal meaning. Activist justices and judges get away with ignoring the clause because, since parents arent making sure that their children are being taught about the Constitution, most citizens probably dont know that the clause exists.
Haven’t there been many cases where people were refused service based on political views and the courts have deemed it OK because political views are not protected against discrimination ?
Why don’t Pastors, Florists, Bakers, etc. simply require all customers to fill out a questionaire on political issues and then deny them service based on political views ?
Our minister stopped performing wedding ceremonies almost ten years ago. Said at that time he could see the handwriting on the wall. Has no fear of preaching about controversial issues from the pulpit. Last week’s sermon centered around the phrase unevenly yoked and included same sex as well as mixed marriages and issues that arise when a couple disagrees on basic issues including finances, raising and disciplining children, division of labor at home, conflict resolution, etc. Lots of young married couples attend. Babies and toddlers abound. Great huge high school program.
I believe churches absolutely will have to perform same sex ceremonies. Mosques won’t.
Because selective enforcement against those who push the LGBT agenda would be used as the basis for a lawsuit, and refusing service on similar politically aligned heterosexual people who might otherwise be educated is contrary to the mission of the church.
Even pastors can become “suddenly ill” and not be able to do what they had on their calendar for the day.....
Of course, any of us conservatives with even half a brain could see the writing on the walls on this issue. What the lefts DOESN'T say tells us all we need to know.
Just listen to them. "If you don't like 'gay marriage,' then don't get 'gay married'." That is ALL that they intend to allow us. Everything else is on the table.
