A former political adviser to President Bill Clinton says there is "more than a theoretical chance" that Hillary Clinton will not be the Democratic nominee for president.
Douglas Schoen wrote in the Wall Street Journal late Tuesday that a Bernie Sanders win in California next week would remove the "inevitability" of Clinton's campaign. That could force Democrats to realize that Clinton might be the weaker candidate in a general election.
"A Sanders win in California would powerfully underscore Mrs. Clinton's weakness as a candidate in the general election," he said.

Uh huh. Lowering expectations so that when she wins she appears stronger than ever.
But she ain’t gonna win and Doug Schoen knows it. California is populated by Bernie types, and besides Hillary is so 1996.
All this means is that Schoen knows that Hillary is ahead in California.
One thing this summary doesn’t mention that the original story in the WSJ mentions is that the white knight will be Slow Joe Biden who will chose Elizabeth Warren as his running mate. I’ve been saying for a while now that the RATs will pull the old switcheroo and run Biden.
The recent polls have panicked the Clinton camp. The great part is she’s a lousy draw. Paying people to appear at her events might fool the press. In the end it doesn’t translate into the votes she needs. Sanders OTOH is generating enthusiasm and votes.
Kalifornia may well be the iceberg that sends the Clinton campaign ship to the bottom.
Can someone do a graphic with the Titanic labeled Clinton and the iceberg labeled emails? That might go viral.
If she loses....especially if by more than 5 points...then you’d have to scratch your head as a super-delegate and ask the value of having her to run in November.
Add to the issue of having her to run, then having her to possibly win over Trump (I know it’s difficult scenario) and then having the FBI hand evidence over and a court episode starts up. Based on whatever charges are put into this...it might forbid her from being in office. Imagine the pressure on Democratic Senators to then remedy this...either having to push her out or trying to vote up some fake forgiveness deal.
why? you want to lose in Nov?
bernie up Trumps by 10, while hillary loses by 2.
what insane math are you using to decide bernie is a better candidate.
or does your hatred for hillary make you rather see her out than us win.
California is the Democrats’ private vote fraud laboratory. Scams are tested there before being implemented in battleground states. Bernie has a lot of grassroots support, but they’ll have no trouble manufacturing a win for Hillary.
All this means is that Schoen knows that Hillary is ahead in California.”
...agreed. Trying to keep the libs whipped up and concerned with what would happen if (God forbid and gasp) Trump wins!
You think the Democrats are going to allow Bernie to become their nominee? What are you smoking?
The superdelegates would have already stampeded away from her if they perceived a viable alternative. As soon as Bernie or Biden or someone makes a plausible case as that alternative Hillary will lose them all, same as last time.
They’re realizing she can’t win.
And she’ll probably take down the ballot Democrats along with her.
No wonder some Democrats want to dump her.
“You think the Democrats are going to allow Bernie to become their nominee? What are you smoking?”
The fact that a 74 year old Marxist is beating the pants off the smartest woman in the world is scaring the Dems. Without super delegates, Hilarity would have already dropped out. Why the Dems are still behind her can only be because they know something the rest of us don’t. My bet is the election has already taken place and they are just waiting till Election Day to upload the results.

Sorry but you both are wrong. Schoen's analysis is quite correct and points out the now obvious fact that Hillary cannot win the nomination without the support of the Superdelegates.
Hillary knows that.
Bernie knows that.
Shoen knows that.
But The Average Freeper apparently doesn't.
The Bottom Line is that it will be up to the Superdelegates to decide who gets the nomination. If they decide it's not going to be Hillary then it's not going to be Hillary.
Go to RCP and have a look at the delegate counts if you don't believe me.
I doubt very much there is a viable path to anyone winning that involves overthrowing the result of the popular vote.
Bernie won’t be the nominee... Dems will tap someone like Biden or something to replace Hillary if she actually is forced to step aside, and believe me folks, she will have to be physically FORCED to step aside.....
However, will anyone in the democratic party actually sit her down and force her to do it?
I doubt it, the Clinton’s are powerful enemies, and that is the main reason no one serious challenged her in the first place because even though they knew she was a weak candidate, taking her on meant taking on the Clintons and their machine... and those are powerful enemies....
We shall see... but someone will have to be the person to force Clinton to step away, and I don’t see anyone being willing to do it.
I think there is mischief to be made by supporting Sanders now. In the end, either is incredibly weak against Trump. Clinton and her history or Sanders and his open socialism. Either is a win for Trump so stirring the pot now only weakens the two. The only way they rebut this is for Clinton to name Sanders her VP. Wouldn’t that be sweet? And, still, child’s play for Trump.
They won’t give the nomination to Bernie. They will give it to Hillary, who will subsequently withdraw or be deposed and replaced by Biden.
