Turning Wisconsin orange on National Gun Violence Awareness Day (barf alert)
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 02 june 2016 | Jeri Bonavia

After the shooting of 9-year-old Za'layia Jenkins, her family, friends and neighbors rallied and marched for peace. It was the children, though, who sent a particularly poignant, powerful message when they joined the rally-cry: "We're fighting for the right to grow up!"

In a state where at least 408 children have been gunned down since 1999, we must listen to our children's urgent message, and we must take meaningful action.

That is why today, the second-annual National Gun Violence Awareness Day, Wisconsinites from every corner of the state are joining caring people from across the country in rising up and speaking out. We are sending our own urgent and powerful message: We can and we will end gun violence.

I hope that Wisconsinites from every corner of the state are joining caring people from across the country in rising up and speaking out against criminals, hate-mongers, and the mentally ill and unstable who use guns and other weapons to kill. It is not easy to identify criminals and the mentally incompetent to ensure that they do not get their hands on guns, knives, and other weapons.

Only those with disordered minds want to take guns away from law abiding citizens. Unfortunately that is too easy and counter-productive, but it is what Democrats want to do, so they can feel good about themselves. Anything meaningful is too complex for them, plus it takes time.

...408 children have been gunned down since 1999, ...

400 in nearly 20 years?

How many have been killed in the same period of time due to their mothers rolling over on them in their sleep, suffocating them?

"..."We're fighting for the right to grow up!"..."

Then you should fight your own violent culture, which is the core problem.

Note: It's not my culture that is oppressing you - It's yours.

:: In a state where at least 408 children have been gunned down since 1999 ::

Yet, that is likely the count for Chicago on the July 4 weekend, 2016.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel sorry for those children that died but the above statement needs to be shouted from the roof tops. They just don’t get it and blame everyone but themselves. Look where the majority of those 400+ children are from.

How many abortions have taken place in Wisconsin since 1999?

“It’s for the children!”

If you restrict the means of self defense for the law-abiding, you will only make it easier for the criminals because, being criminals, they will not obey these laws.

“If it only saves one life...”

Taking guns away from good people will only increase the body count, and increase the number of innocents who are helpless against armed criminals.

CRIMINAL CONTROL, NOT GUN CONTROL.

Why is this so hard for people to understand? Some people will not take responsibility for their personal protection but expect a stranger to show up in the nick of time and do it for them.

This protest brought to you by the maker of orange vests, a privately owned enterprise of the DNC.

I am surprised that they did not schedule the day to coincide with the opening day of deer season in Wisconsin.

On the opening day of deer season, blaze orange, required by law to hunt deer, is everywhere!

The opening day of deer season is the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

Wearing orange in Wisconsin will hardly distinguish them from the Harley people.

Otherwise, these delusional people are only self-identifying themselves as easy victims to their cousins.

The violence problem can be remedied for the most part in as little as 15 years. Its proximate cause is illegitimacy resulting in single parent families. Children, race indifferent, raised in such families are 60% more likely to criminally offend.

So what is critically needed is for a charismatic and powerful spiritual leader to preach at length to those communities that suffer from single parent families, to convince them they have only two choices: either to perpetuate the massacre of children; or to form lasting, monogamous marriages, that raise children in two parent families.

(Though he is a raging liberal, even CNN’s Don Lemon has come out to describe the same problem. It incited great outrage from those who want to practice sexual license, and for whom the welfare of their children is unimportant.)

Guns are not violent. Humans can be violent. The problem is humans whose “value system” allows them to kill people. Thanks to years of liberalism, their value systems have been destroyed.

” We can and we will end gun violence.”
Hope making that statement made you “feel” good, because it won’t happen. You can pass all the “feel good” laws you want, Chicago is proof that it does no good.
Arrest violent thugs, incarcerate them for extended periods of time, problem solved. It’s the same people doing the shooting, over and over.

Shameless use of children to cloud the truth.

My granddaughter noticed my gun on my hip when I took the kids fishing. She asked, "pop Pop, are you a cop?" I told her that I was her special protector. She smiled and never mentioned it again - without being traumatized......

How many of those ‘children’ were between the ages of 18 - 24? 402? More?

The solution is easy, you twit - don’t shoot any kids.

Do you really believe you can control what others do? If so, your stupidity is bottomless.

Compared to those killed by their mother’s “right to choose”, probably very few.
