Stephen Colbert Slams Senate for Failing to Pass Gun Control Bills

Stephen Colbert was angrier than usual with the Senate after they failed to pass any of the proposed gun control bills this week. The Late Show host had a hard time believing that they couldn’t come together on something that so many Americans agree on, saying, “Ninety-two percent of Americans want to expand background checks for gun buyers, and you just ignore them. Since when does 8 percent of the population get to have total control of an issue?”

“When does 8% of the population get to have control of an issue?”

Since 1776, when this country was founded to protect individual rights from mobs and dictators.

I’m sure his tens of viewers will be outraged along with him.

How the Late Show is paying this guy is what’s beyond my comprehension. Nothing funny or entertaining about this clown.

So they replace liberal activist Dave Letterman with this clown? Since he took over Late Show, I’ve watched a total of 0.0 minutes.

Colbert squats to pee.

He’s an insignificant, obnoxious douche bag, minus the bag.

Someone should have answered: ask some out of business bakers from Oregon or a pizza shop owner from Indiana.

Sadly you are correct. I knew a guy at work who got all of his news from Jon Stewart. To say he was an idiot lib would be an understatement.

“And we care what this clown thinks just why??”

Because his lies are followed closedly and reflexively believed by millions.

I have seen it first hand. Full blown propaganda disquised as humor. It reinforces all the PC the millenials have been taught throughout their education.

Colbert is very evil and very effective. He believes his own lies.

Remember, it is a well respected essential of party leftists to be able to believe several contradictory things at once, for different purposes.

Oh no! Colbert is pissed? They’ll just have to go back into session and vote over to assuage all 23 of his dedicated viewers!

Colbert is a classic example of the disease that infects the voting public: ignorance.

The reason no bill was passed: The Republicans offered a bill to temporarily block a firearm purchase by someone on the no-fly list (and maybe the separate "watch" list). The person then had the option to challenge the denial, thus preserving their right to due process. The Democrats voted against this. There was actually a majority vote for it, but they needed 60 votes to proceed.

The Democrats offered a bill without the due process protections. They may have thrown more things into the kitchen sink, like "closing" the mythical "gun show" loophole. The Republicans voted against it.

If someone can provide more details or clarifications/corrections, please do so. But, I believe this is the gist of the differences.

The damn enemedia doesn't explain these differences, because it contradicts their continuing mission to make the Republicans look bad. And of course, they don't bother to point out that NONE of the proposals would have prevented Mateen from buying a gun.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert ratings fall to new low

"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert dips to a new ratings low, falling further behind Jimmy Kimmel Live to third place in the demo and among total viewers..."

Exactly right. They say there are around one million people on the “terrorist watch list”. So they would deny a constitutional right without due process to as many as one million people?
