Washington, D.C. – Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy (SC-04) released the following statement after the committee’s Majority released a mark of its investigative report:
“Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods were heroes who gave their lives in service to our country. Their bravery and the courageous actions of so many others on the ground that night should be honored.
“When the Select Committee was formed, I promised to conduct this investigation in a manner worthy of the American people’s respect, and worthy of the memory of those who died. That is exactly what my colleagues and I have done.
“Now, I simply ask the American people to read this report for themselves, look at the evidence we have collected, and reach their own conclusions. You can read this report in less time than our fellow citizens were taking fire and fighting for their lives on the rooftops and in the streets of Benghazi.”
The committee’s proposed report is just over 800 pages long and is comprised of five primary sections and 12 appendices. It details relevant events in 2011 and 2012.
So in other words despite the way it is written, Obama refused to issue Cross Border Authority.
There was no need for a stand down order if Obama never granted permission to cross the border.
All countries and governments have tradeoffs. This country has much going for it in the way of natural resources, pockets of decency, etc. I try to be judicious with my mercenary attitude. It's possible to get stuff even out of ones enemies.
Yep. Instead of taking responsibility and giving the order to permit the crossing of the border, Obama pushed the responsibilitgy off onto the Libyans. It’s not his fault, it was Libya’s fault.
It was also his way of dumping it onto Hillary since it would then be up to her to find and persuade the right Libyans to give permission in order to then ask Obama for the CBA.
Obama didn’t give a crap whether or not the right libyan oficials could be contacted in time.
But the pubbies will not press the CBA point because he’s the first black president, he’s on the way out,... and they are only interested in Hillary for the election.

The minute the presser was over with, CNN had a banner superimposed and lengthily-implanted on their various recaps and analysis on the bottom of the screen. It appeared so quickly it's almost like it was pre-planned (wry sarcasm, here).

Thanks for that. You got to the report early. What time was it released? A FRiend emailed me at 5:30 a.m. saying she’d heard it on CNN. She’s up through the night and saw the report. I left this thread to watch the press conference after I saw here that it was on. I don’t think we’ve ever heard that Hillary was in a 7:30 p.m. meeting at the WH. I remember Panetta and Petraeus being there in what they said was a pre-arranged meeting and finding out what was going on in Libya after they got there. Needless to say, I’m anxious to dig into this.
I’m anxious to see Pompeo and Jordan’s release!! Have you run across that?
I have no patience with anyone here who gripes and complains about the length of time this took or the personal criticisms of Gowdy or anyone else on the committee. It’s easy to complain but it takes effort to read and understand what they were up against. IMO they are the ones who are satisfied with a few lines in a report and make up their minds from there. Did they pay attention to the work of the committee the last 2 years? Did they watch any of the hearings? Something tells me I’m going to explode by the time I get to the end of these replies..
The term “stand down order” has been used to describe multiple orders/non-orders. My question about a “stand down order” concerns the very first one.
When the mission, consulate, whatever you want to call the place where the ambassador was first came under attack, certain people at the “CIA annex”, who were ready to run to the sound of the guns were told, by phone, not to do so. They were ordered to “stand down.” This information was reported by Katherine Herridge as coming from “people on the ground.”
Who was it that gave that order to NOT go to the aid of the ambassador? This was before Stevens was determined to be “missing”, before the 7:30 PM WH meeting and before any US military assets were ordered mustered.
My second question is WHY were there some 30-40 people at this “CIA annex”? What was their mission? WHAT were they doing there?
Well we will see what the “elephants” remember in November. The Americans are still asleep, they don’t care and this will be realized the day Hillary Clinton takes office as POTUS. It’s coming and it will be the last gasp for America, it HAD TO BE here at this time when they answer for their crimes and they will not.
I could see the radical left in charge, taking over more and more public land, bringing in millions of refugees, putting them on the dole, taking bank accounts, and the elite living like the EU ... kings in charge of slaves.. for as long as the money lasted.
What difference does it make? I’ve read that the UniPary (congress) gave approval for the gun running to libya so they are all complicit meaning nothing comes of this and was just another uniparty hoax upon the American people who actually care!

Thanks - I was going to look for Pompeo/Jordan’s report. I’m glad you have it here. I would want either of them on my side in a fight. I loved the answer Pompeo gave in the press conference about Hillary (or her actions?) being reprehensible - without hesitating - YES!!!!! I couldn’t hear the questions that well so I don’t know if it was “her” or “her actions.”

How do you explain EVERY poll that shows Clinton leading, especially after taking into consideration all if your points? Oh, I know.....the polls are biased, rigged, not weighted, etc., etc., etc. That’s what we were hanging onto in 2008 and 2012, and we know how that turned out, the polls were accurate.
Benghazi has nothing to do with Donald Trump, in fact, when he rarely mentions Benghazi, he doesn’t even have a grasp on what, why and how the attack took place. The precise before, during and after needs to be rammed down people’s throats, not just Crooked Hillary lied. The committee has layed out a roadmap, let’s see if he is smart enough to read it.
Then if you know, start putting it out there for all to see, this is how people learn about things...
Don’t just sit there, print it on here so we can see...and watch 13 hours, I did last night and couldn’t sleep after seeing that...
