I don't know if you were around for the transition from Carter to Reagan, but I expect if Trump is elected, it will be very similar. First, the Obama-worshipping talking heads in the media are just plain naive and stupid, but the powers that be in the ivory towers are not. They know that, as with Carter, they backed a real turkey. They have spent seven long years covering up for his gaffes, cringing at his terrible off-teleprompter delivery, moving heaven and earth to elevate Obama and his wife to exalted status-- not because they deserve it, but because they had to be made to look at least competent to prevent the media from looking like complete fools for backing them in the first place. Crease in his pants, indeed!

If Trump is elected and the economy begins to roar, and Americanism becomes in vogue again. as happened with Reagan after a shaky start, the media will run a few "Remember when" retrospectives and quietly drop Obama from the front page. As it was with Carter, he will be rediscovered years later, doing whatever his version of building houses for the poor is.

On a Trump inauguration day, you will hear sighs of relief from the media bosses in their ivory towers, their hard work of trying to prop up a complete disaster for nearly eight long years finally at an end.

Then, they will set their caps to the job of demonizing Trump any way they can as America becomes America again.
