Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.
As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trumps running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this weeks shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrichs comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:
It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you dont understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.

Yeah, whatever else, this should be yet one more nail in the coffin of Newtie as VP talk. This pandering and patronizing attitude towards a group of Americans who by and large need to get their own act together (instead of “blaming Whitey”) does no one any good, but certainly helps make it that much worse.
Yikes! And I thought my face-to-face meeting with Newt in 2007 (when I was in Ames, Iowa for the straw poll and he told me to shut up if I wasn't there for a book signing, smile for the photo-op with him, get outta the way for the next person in line... and then his "handlers" tried to sell me the photo "commemorative" for $80) was bad.
Newt is a really charming guy:) Hope you did not buy the picture !!!
