As of the census of 2010, there were 8,365 people, 3,933 households, and 1,941 families residing in the city. The population density was 2,597.8 inhabitants per square mile (1,003.0/km2). There were 4,795 housing units at an average density of 1,489.1 per square mile (574.9/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 88.1% White, 5.3% African American, 0.3% Native American, 3.4% Asian, 0.9% from other races, and 1.9% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.8% of the population.
There were 3,933 households of which 20.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 37.5% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.9% had a male householder with no wife present, and 50.6% were non-families. 43.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.97 and the average family size was 2.74.
The median age in the city was 41.6 years. 16.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 9.2% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 28.6% were from 25 to 44; 27.2% were from 45 to 64; and 18.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 48.8% male and 51.2% female.

Good luck. We have a couple of in laws addicted to Facebook, and they support it, regardless.
The real problem with them, is how they can/might refer to you and ours like saying to the world, “Old Grumpy and Grampa Dave are on vacation for 3 weeks and will be out of country in ???????. Or your grandchild will be at X college checking it out, next week.
One of our friends, a lady, an American born hispanic had her own cleaning business and her sister was a facebook addict. Her sister posted about her husband was going to Mexico on business.
Her BIL was kidnapped and held hostage for about a year before the family raised a lot of money to get him back to America. They had to sell their home to raise ransom money.
Our friend felt that her sister’s FB and other sites set up the kidnapping. His pictures were on FB and other sites her sister posted to.
Too much info can set up fake kidnappings with demands for money for the release of a grandchild or some other relative.

He didn’t use an AR15.
St. Joes is also a summer resort town on Lake Michigan. Kind of Cape Cod or Nantucket for Chicago (It’s about a 1 1/2 hour drive or so). Million dollar homes on the lakefront. But as others have said it’s also right next door to Benton Harlem, which is scarier than the worst parts of Chicago.

I guess I inadvertently stumbled across something. I heard this on the radio earlier and it just struck me. I’m having a hard time believing this was a “lone wolf”.

I looked at several articles on this crime. None described the shooter.

I agree with all you’ve said about too much info. on FB postings. I state my mind to my daughter regularly and let her know there are creeps out there who troll FB to find out things about their vacations, etc. Her answer to me: “I know.”
