In a bizarre digression from their latest anti-Christian tirade, the Islamic State addressed the question of black slavery, claiming that if Muslims had been in charge of Western states, the slave trade would have continued. If Muslims rather than Christians had been running things in countries like the U.S., the Islamic State argues in the most recent issue of its propaganda magazine Dabiq, “the lucrative African slave trade would have continued, supporting a strong economy.”

If muslims had been running things we wouldn’t have gotten past 1800 without self destructing. And we wouldn’t have had an industrial revolution.

I think this is a credible supposition. After all, slavery still exists in moslem countries today, i.e. Saudi Arabia.
Sounds like we need a sequel to Spike Lee’s Confederate States of America, Islamic States of America.
We can also have someone write an alternate version to Philip K. Dick’s “The Man in the High Castle”. The “Man in the High Minaret”.
And if history would be a guide, southern Democrats would be the purchasers.

They may have a point about slavery helping to create a strong economy. After all the current female occupant of our White House claims she wakes up every morning in a house built by slaves.
I don’t believe that is correct. The north was wealthier and far more technologically advanced than the south was at the time of the civil war. The south had not yet industrialized and was dependant upon the north for many things, which is why the blockades were able to strangle them.
Black Lives Matter...unless the Moslems are in power.

News flash: slavery STILL exists in the Muslim world. More than one prominent imam has pronounced that slavery, particularly sexual slavery, is permitted by the Quran.

Of course it would! Moslem slavers selling slaves to Arabs would castrate the males. That is why there is no vast pool of blacks in the Middle East.
Slavers from the new world wanted whole slaves so they bought them from West African ports. There would not have a racial problem now if the slave shippers had bought castrated slaves from Mediterranean ports, but the death rate in shipping would have been much higher.
The northern states were far more industrially developed but not wealthier. There were more millionaires in the south but their wealth was tied up in slaves and land. Slaves were far more expensive than we tend to think today.
