Pope Francis on Tuesday appointed a special commission to examine the role of female deacons in the Church, in a potentially historic opening on the possibility of women joining the clergy.
The 13-member commission, made up of seven men and six women, will study the question of female deacons with a particular focus on the history of women having played this role in the early years of the Church, the Vatican said in a statement.

Why doesn’t he just skip to “gay marriage” already?
Well, there goes the Roman Catholic religion. Christianity is being destroyed from within.
From Psalm 146
Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.
Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
I pray that the next Pope is a Catholic one.
Down the road, an auntie pope.
It's in the BOOK. That's the way it will be.
1 TIMOTHY 3
This is a trustworthy saying: If someone aspires to be a church leader, he desires an honorable position. So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money. ...
Hopefully someone is mixing the poison as I write.
“This could be a hoax...”
The Pope, or the story?
“False Prophet”.....
Saperlipopette!
I’m not Catholic but, drip... drip... drip.
Please, do not confuse today’s “pope” and “Roman Catholic Church” with the authentic. Today, we have some unholy collection of bishops who are more interested in cocktail parties and press conferences than in defending Roman Catholic teachings.
After the exalted disaster that was Vatican II, many Catholics walked out, never to return. Ordaining female deacons will have the same results.
Congress is infected with liars, thieves and perverts. Whatever passes for a catholic church today is comprised of deceivers, heretics and yes, perverts.
That’ll just have a bunch of lesbian “deaconesses” clamoring to be ordained as “priests”.
Created in His image, male and female.
Personally I believe there is no reason why a woman cannot do a very credible job as a member of the clergy.
However, as a practical matter, looking at Protestant churches that have already done this, the only women who appeared to be attracted to the job are whacked-out feminist activists, lesbians, and other lefty political types with some axe to grind.
That’s how it appears to my eye anyway.
Interesting that Francis has chosen to go down this path to address the clergy shortage and not permitting priests to marry. (even as we absorb already married Priests from other denominations).
Can the RCC find a “Pope Benedict” in the styling of a Trump? I would discourage it, but...
The RCC has become a POLITICAL “beast” under the current “IL PAPA” [OK, I’ll cop to a cheap Revelations reference] yet, the RCC ^pew-sitters^ should be critical about their direction. And, even today, church or even public schooling does not teach critical thinking, merely group-think.
RCCs! [CALL OUT] take possession of your XPian tradition or let God vomit you from his mouth (Yeah, another Revelations reference...hey...it’s what I do)! Note: When funds are withheld from a political body it dies. What then, will be resurrected from that death? Only RCC’s hold the answer to that.
Believe me, I know a handful of “Gramma-Gert” in the Lutheran Church (LCMS) that DO NOT critically examine what their local church is doing.
I truly ^press^ my tradition (LCMS) to provide an appropriate level of education, that includes ^critical evaluation^ to all of our children and at all ages. Our kids are not stupid and they WANT to learn.
Bon chance mes ami.
Right down the drain just like the Episcopal “church”...the libs will destroy this too.
