A doctor backed by agriculture and business groups ousted U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp Tuesday in a Kansas Republican primary race that focused on the tea party-backed incumbent's battles with GOP leaders and criticism that he was too cantankerous to be effective.

Great Bend obstetrician Roger Marshall won the tough contest against Huelskamp in the 1st District, which spans western and much of central Kansas.

There is no doubt Huelskamp was anti-Trump. When are these neverTrump idiots going to learn?

Ryan & McCain are going to be next if they don’t get on-board with the American people.

It appears that those “Conservatives” that are trying to “thread the needle” and be “for Trump but against his rhetoric”, or “standing on Conservative principles” is a liability position. Also, we’ve seen examples of those who rode the “Tea Party wave”, but either breathed the rarified DC air, or were lying and became part of the establishment pronto. This may be an example of one, or both, I’m not from KS, so I don’t know. IMO, this is a different time and place and traditional “party” positions matter not...the voters are pis*ed off and want an outsider to say the things that need to be said, expose the corruption and cronyism and crack some eggs...even if that outsider does not for the “mold”. They are sick and tired of waiting for the doofuses to right the ship before it capsizes.

I don’t what’s worse, the RINO winning or morons on this thread thinking it’s a good thing. This didn’t have a damn thing to do with Trump, the GOPE took out a hit on a conservative congressman. Sickening.

Okay, I get it now. I’m not sure Coulter and Erickass are in harmony though. Coulter thinks it’s a good thing, but Erickass thinks it’s bad.

Yep, this guy was another NeverTrump Cruz zombie. Cruz has actually helped to pull some of the nominative conservatives we have in Congress over the cliff.

Yep nothing. He endorsed Trump a month ago. This has nothing to do with Trump. THE GOPE took out a hit on him.

-- I'm not sure Coulter and Erickass are in harmony though. --

I agree, not a good choice of word on my part. I meant to convey that both of them saw Huelscamp's loss as being related to Huelscamp's attitude toward Trump.

-- Coulter thinks it's a good thing, but Erickass thinks it's bad. --

I think Coulter is just laughing at what looks like "revenge of the Trump people," and maybe thinks Huelscamp had it coming for that. Definitely, Erickson thinks the voters made a mistake.

Judging from remarks on other threads, the election was a sort of Hobson's choice. Reward the incumbent who was pretty conservative but had negative things to say about Trump, or reward his opponent who was supported by the GOPe. The same sort of choice could pop up when Cruz runs again.

So Coulter says Huelskamp disavowed Trump, while Erickson says he tithed himself to Trump? Are they saying the opposite of one another, or am I misinterpreting?

The way I see it is if Ann Coulter likes it and Fatboy Erickson dislikes it, it's a good thing!

What exactly have all the so called "conservatives" done? They have all drank the DC Koolaide and forgotten why they are there! Change, for change sake, might be good.

GMAFB with that old nonsense argument.

Marshall is a “moderate” RINO who was funded by the Chamber of Commerce and the Ricketts family. This is BAD NEWS, period.

Libs in Kansas are celebrating. Libs in DC are celebrating.

Exactly. Huelskamp is a Cruz spporters who is anti-Trump. He is a staunch conservative, but he is aiding Hillary by failing to embrace Trump as the nominee.

Huelskamp is a thorn in Ryan’s side, which is a good thing. But his
refusal to endorse Trump misses the big picture. It cost an otherwise good conservative his seat. I am sure he also had other issues with his constituents.

I thought the guy who lost hated Trump, so I don’t immediately understand how he “tithed” to Trump.

Chamber of Commerce beats Crane in GA.
Chamber of Commerce wins in Kansas.
and next in Wisconsin????

If the Cruz and Trump factions want to win, they’d better find a way to make peace. Both here on FR and in other Conservative and Trump media the Trump supporters seem to be very poor winners. And the Cruz losers seem to be very poor losers.
