George Zimmerman who was acquitted of killing an unarmed black teen said he was punched in the face for allegedly bragging about the fatal shooting.
Zimmerman called 911 to report that he was assaulted by a man at a restaurant in Sanford, Florida, over the weekend where he was discussing the 2012 death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman, 32, told authorities the man approached his table and said: Youre bragging about that? and punched him.

Wasn't that lawsuit thrown out quite a while ago?
If you did what you say, just think We would celebrate your life. Lots of flowers, candles and cuddly little stuffed animals at the nearest telephone pole.
“Sure, you can be a prominent public figure and tweet out the n-word on Twitter if you desire, but is it the smart thing to do?”
Uh, tweeting out the n-word is not right. Are you comparing derogatory name calling a race to talking about defending yourself against a murderous thug?
When it comes to George Z., you can pretty much take it to the bank that this headline and story are 180 degrees from the truth..
Dear Jackie Salo :
I want to be up front about this. I don’t trust you or the New York Post editorial board.
I’ll seek a second, independent source.

Side note: The “Trending news” to the side of this article is not safe for work - or for reading in front of my wife. I forgot it was there and . . . not a positive reaction.
No description of the guy that punched him? No word on whether the guy was caught and arrested or if the police are actively looking for him?
Of course, it’s the NY Post, so...
Perhaps unwise, because he was not aware of his surrounding. If he is wise, he would sue the thug for every penny (literally).
The media have been lying about Zimmerman since day one, why would they tell the truth now?
Besides, I really DON’T give a damn....he should be bragging about dispensing with a violent little punk like Trayvon.
I think it was more of a contrasting of what one *can* do legally versus what one may want to choose not to do in keeping with societal norms.
Speaking publically about having killed someone is probably unwise unless invited to do so, and to an audience that’s likely to be receptive of it. There used to be a certain stigma about having taken a life outside of wartime. Zimmerman should put it to rest.
Some people say :”Zimmerman has been acting like an idiot”...
After the treatment he received by the press and the thuggish culture, he has every damn right to act any way he pleases.
"Zimmerman is considered the victim in this case, but witnesses inside Gators Riverside restaurant told authorities that the problem started because Zimmerman was bragging about killing the unarmed teen in 2012."
From another news account by WFTV 9.
Don’t disagree with what you said, but that sounds suspiciously like you are blaming the victim.
As in:
I have the *right* to dress up in in a skimpy dress and walk around Compton by myself, at night, unarmed.
Doesnt mean its very smart or that I deserve much sympathy when something bad happens.
“There used to be a certain stigma about having taken a life outside of wartime. Zimmerman should put it to rest.”
Honestly, GZ probably has no skill or other quality other than he took out the trash. Once.
Be very wary of the drive-by media. You might get a cap in the ass while they drive back to file a story.
I don’t know, I would think that Zimmerman would get punched on site by a certain demographic.
However, that boy was born under an unlucky star...
I don’t think of it as ‘blaming the victim’.
It’s like here in my area (the Wine Country) which is a tourist destination. A few times a year the nicest of people, good folks, beautiful kids, do a bit too much wine tasting and plow into a telephone pole, another car, off the coast....
*I* am not judgmental; the universe is.
I’m not a small guy at 6’ 190, but if I started a fight with a couple of navy SEALS would I deserve much sympathy?
I fully support the castration and or immolation of any rapist (excluding BS definitions such as the 18 year old guy with the 17 year old girlfriend), but that doesn’t mean it’s really smart for a pretty female to dress in such a way as to emphasize her primary and secondary sexual characteristics and proceed unescorted, inebriated, and/or in the company of disreputable men to unobserved places; it’s not an ‘either/or’. It’s the duty of parents (and/or anybody else who gives a damn) to impart an appreciation of the dangers of doing dumb stuff.
The world doesn’t care about fine nuances of judicial interpretation :-)
So Zimmerman wasn’t even talking to the person who assaulted him.
Headlines sell papers-truth doesnt matter anymore.

Not to quite a few FReepers either. Not you, but look at some of the responses.
