About 40% of Texans are Republican, 30% are independents, and 30% are DemoRats. It would appear that only 2 out of 3 independents would consider secession.

You miss-read it. The title says 3 out of five TRUMP SUPPORTERS from Texas want to secede, not that 3 out of 5 Texans do.
Why not get them to self-deport? Make it painful to not be Texan.
No hard feelings that way. Liberals can have half - and we can have half. They can open their borders and let every third world person who wants in to BE IN. They won't have to do Sanctuary Cities... every city in their hellhole will welcome any and all criminals from any country that wants to dump them.
They want ‘programs’ so everyone can have everything? GREAT - WHY NOT? They can steal from each other... and not from us. Also, they can disarm THEIR population and burn all the guns... no NRA in that ‘country’.
