The Asian American Coalition for Education lodged a complaint with Department of Education last Wednesday, accusing Cornell and Columbia University of discriminating against an Asian student in the admissions process.
The complaint, filed within the Office of Civil Rights, claims that Hubert Zhao ...was unjustly denied admission to both schools last year.
Zhao is an outstanding student with excellent academic and extracurricular achievements, a 5.3 GPA and high PSAT and SAT scores, according to the AACE website. He and an Indian American classmate were the only students in their 700-person class who qualified as National Merit semifinalists.
While other students from different racial groups in his high school, with objectively and often significantly lower academic and extracurricular credentials, were admitted to some of the top 20 universities, neither Zhao nor his classmate were accepted to any of these schools, the website said.
AACE Vice President Jack Ouyang said in an online statement that Zhaos experience is another example of the widespread and systematic illegal discrimination against Asian American students by many colleges.

Maybe they don’t see any point.
I think it is tied to the all powerful, all encompassing state of China and other Asian nations. They are naturally collectivist/socialist.
Can’t have too many smart people at your college. Oh no. That would be unfaaaaaaaiiiiiirrrrrrrrr! Arghhhhhh where’s my safe spaaaaaacccce!
Communism stunted China and losing WWII stunted Japan.
Well, they are smart and hard-working.
Everything liberals hate.
Any cultural group that promotes hard work and dilligence studying has to me hammered down, as they are not buying into the victim mentality.....
I have said before, asians in america will be the new jews. Hated due to envy by the stuipid and lazy.
Yep.
My daughter was in the college admissions process last year and she would not check they Asian box. I kept telling her, you won't get accepted anywhere with the white box checked. Sad that it's really come to that. She was 10th in her class (900 kids), decent SATs, etc. Though in fairness, I have to say the #1 kid, who was a white male, got a free ride offer to Harvard. BUT, he was a financial need kid too. Her good friend was #3 and got NADA. (she is white)
I see it in the workplace now.
I am amazed by Indian businessmen, some of whom are very successful, and clearly worked hard to get there, who are nonetheless big supporters of the Democrat Party.
Do they not realize that they are enabling a beast that is just going to be sticking it’s hands into their pockets over and over and over again?
Tell her to check the Native American box.
Seems to have done the trick for Lizzie Warren.
Really lousy navigation.
Just like the Jewish groups that screamed the loudest during the “reverse discrimination” Bakke case in the late 1970s
Four decades of quotas later they still vote Dems
It’s not discrimination.
Asians are over represented on college campi.
I’m sure you understand. :)
“Besides, why would you put a moon base on Mars?”

“As an aside: If all these folks are so smart and score so super high when testing, how come there is no Asian moon base on Mars by now?”
A base on Mars would be a Mars base, not a moon base.
The University of Texas was sued by white students for not admitting them but admitting lower scoring black students into the pre-law program. UT lost which resulted in the Top 10 ruling making every public university in Texas automatically accept applicants from the top 10% of Texas high school graduates no matter what their skin color or ethnicity was. Well, UT got their panties in a wad and their oh so wise president had the gall to claim sending acceptance letter to the top 10% would mean they'd have to shut down the football program. WHAT?!? No more Longhorn Football?!?!?!?! No, we can't have that! Uh, yeah, like that would ever happen. So the Texas Legislature spent months debating the debacle and decided that UT would only have to accept applicants in the top 8% so that would open up slots to dumb jocks who couldn't crack a book to graduate very high up in their high schools. There are 99 players on the 2016 Longhorn roster. But UT couldn't seem to find a way to get those 99 enrolled somewhere within their 50,000 student body. Mind you, the other state universities still have to follow the 10% rule even though the law suit didn't involve them.
Whoa. Those people really ARE inscrutable and sneaky!
According to Senator Sheila "Don't you know who I am" Jackson Lee says we put a flag on Mars.
