Article I, Section 8, clause 4 of the Constitution entrusts the federal legislative branch with the power to “establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization.”
So immigration is not really a 10th Amendment issue. States and cities should abide by laws passed by the US Congress.

Sanctuary cities are real, and they wreak havoc on their inhabitants. Not only do the fugitives get to escape capture there, they are given an almost free hand to continue to commit further atrocities while enjoying the hospitality extended to them, with little or no chance of triggering a response from the captive police corps who are supposed to be maintaining order, but are handicapped with so many restrictions and “special procedures”, it is easier to turn a blind eye than to go through all the nightmare of actually performing real police duties.
I know that I’m getting and my memory isn’t what it used to be, but I was under the impression that democrat mayors were proudly confirming their “sanctuary cities,” much like you say your governor did.

I lived in a sanctuary city. In a gated community with a guard, which is the only way I recommend living in a sanctuary city.
It’s awful. Gang controlled, drug infested pig stye. What were once charming older neighborhoods are now trash.
Our sanctuary city was right next to yet another sanctuary city for double the damage. Lots of newer construction there, all trashed.
