Just asking, I have no idea, but was wondering if flights are diverting around NK airspace.

It’s doubtful NK is a destination hub for many. Would you want to pilot a plane there nukes or no nukes?

I would assume so. I doubt many people are going there. Also they may get shot at if they fly over their airspace. So, just an educated guess, yes that is normal.

I say nobody wants to go there anyways, but it’s already been said. I’m sayin’ it again, anyhoo—Nobody wants to go there!

In light of their test today? Possibly.

But would you want to fly a plane over NK?

Right now there is one plane flying from Vladivostok to Pyongyang. That must be the exception to the rule.

“was wondering if flights are diverting around NK airspace.”

They are either diverting or have been knocked out by the nuke’s EMP.

The shortest path for those flights between China and South Korea would have been over NK.

Pretty sure it looks like that all the time. Don’t think many airlines fly over NK.

Yep, I think it is just a matter of low demand/traffic to North Korea...the current flight into Pyongyang: https://www.flightradar24.com/KOR272/af16d82

Does N. Korea allow overflights of their airspace for commercial flights NOT landing in the PRK?

Knowing nothing about it in particular, isn’t there a reasonable chance you get a SAM or two launched at you if you fly over their airspace? You know, a stratoaggression.

Put it this way, a visit to the DPRK is quite low on my bucket list.

I wouldn’t fly over that place if I have a choice.

Yep

FlightAware and a couple of other sites have historical data.
