The drill instructor who allegedly hazed recruit Raheel Siddiqui moments before his death was the same instructor who had previously ordered a Muslim recruit into a commercial clothes dryer and interrogated him about his religion and loyalties.
That drill instructor had also called Siddiqui a 20-year-old Muslim, Pakistani-American from Taylor, Mich. a terrorist at some point during the recruits brief time at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, according to a Corps official speaking on background Monday morning.
New details about Siddiquis death which the Corps has ruled a suicide show he initially survived the nearly 40-foot fall he took on the early morning of March 18 at the depot.

You can not follow islam and be a United States Marine.
Then cash the guy out.
I have no problem with that.
I don’t condone murder though, and if it can be shown this was murder, then I want the perp erased!
I dont believe that. I DO believe that it is too much risk to the other marines to take the chance.
There’s always a group of outlier who think their parents’ religion is kooky and who aspire to more.
But like I said, can’t tell the bad from the good. Can’t take the chance.
Sounds like murder to me.
I used to hang out with a group of guys, one of whom was a Muslim. And yeah, he was ribbed and teased on occasion about being a terrorist (he wasn't, of course...At least as far as I know(!)). He took it in good humor, like any normal guy would. If this recruit couldn't even handle normal rough male humor, how did he expect to survive as a Marine?
Really?? A USMC DI was verbally abusive? And he picked the most prominent trait of the recruit?
Weird, because DIs always respect height, weight, race, the state you are from, whether or not you are an Eskimo, a Texan, college educated, etc.
I know everyone will faint that he was called a “terrorist”. That crap steels him for when someone else in the middle east calls him that. Like water, they seek every crack in your psychological armor.
That crap may seem silly, but its the reason that the whole damned world knows that a Marine rifle company has combat power utterly beyond all reasonable expectations.
Anyone remember when 300 Marines were surrounded when ISIS swept into northern Iraq? They gave a wide berth to that spot, and it wasn’t because they feared air support.
You aren’t a Marine until you make it through boot.
And you can’t make it through boot if you need a safe room your first day at P.I.
You can not follow islam and put America first. Incompatible.
All recruits need to sign on to that fact. Murder requires intent. I see none.
Everything except the dryer story sounds pretty typical.
And I have my doubts if a over six foot man could even fit into a dryer.
There is a reason after 20 years of being an officer I still take a few deep breaths when a DI passes by...
How come no one has posted Gunny Hartman videos or little clips? WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION NUMBNUTS? DIDN’T YOUR MOMMY LOVE YOU ENOUGH?
"Siddiqui jumped to his feet, ran the length of the squad bay, opened and ran through a door, and vaulted over the third-floor stairwell railing."
That doesn't sound like murder to me.
The dryer also sound suspicious. You used to get a scrub brush and clothes pins. The cld Corps didn’t have dryers in boot camp.
His Arrogance’s version of “Snowflake Marines”?
This drill instructor clearly contributed to a situation that resulted in this recruit being killed.
I don't support members of Islam serving in our military.
I still do not want to see people abused. I don't care who they are.
As I said, if the drill instructor thinks this guy isn't fit, then roll him up. Recommend discharge and back it up.
I don't approve of becoming the enemy to defeat him.

Improper assignment
On Monday, the Corps confirmed the drill instructor was the same instructor who hazed and hit Siddiqui on March 18. A Corps official speaking on background also said that instructor had called Siddiqui a terrorist, but it was unclear or unknown if he used the slur on March 18.
A command investigation determined that instructor was improperly assigned to Siddiquis platoon in Company K, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion.
He should not have been supervising recruits, Corps have officials have said, because he was being investigated for recruit abuse and mistreatment.
We believe the facts surrounding Raheels death speak directly to this issue, the Shiraz Law Firm the Siddiqui familys current legal representative said last week in an email to the newspapers when asked if the family and their attorney believed the recruit was subjected to racially-, ethnically- or religiously-motivated hazing.
However, we must understand this is not a Muslim issue; its an American issue. To those that say otherwise, I ask you, what if this patriotic young man was your son or your brother?
We are still waiting on the enclosures to the results of this command investigation to decide how we plan to proceed, the firm said in the email.
However, we believe that there is a lack of material evidence needed to support suicide as the most probable cause of death in this case.

The corps is the only thing that still works as advertised in America. Lets see if we can screw with it.
The corps is the only thing that still works as advertised in America. Lets see if we can screw with it.
Wash racks are gone. Recruits don’t do a fraction of the details we used to do. Anodized brass, chlorofram shoes, laundry done by base laundry, they even get “stress cards” to hold up when things get to be too much.
It sounds like a guy so intimidated that he wanted to escape.
I don’t know the situation there well enough to say whether he knew he was jumping 40 feet, or if he was simply so scared he wanted to chance it.
Either way it doesn’t exonerate this idiot drill instructor.
In recent years drill instructors have been deemed to have made it a little less intimidating than they used to. I don’t particularly care for that, so I am not coming at this from an anti-drill instructor bias.
I believe in hammering young men into line for military purposes. I understand the need for it.
Something clearly went overboard here. This instructor was already under investigation. Now this.
This is not a corp issue. It is an ‘out of control instructor’ issue.
He was already under investigation for another incident.
I do not countenance drill instructors going easy on recruits. If one of them is so terrified he dies because of it, then it is possible we have a problem.
If you don’t like a recruit, and you have a reason, then roll the recruit up. Do it for cause, and back your stance.
