(CNN)Just one point separates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in two states that are critical to both candidates' chances of becoming president, according to new CNN/ORC polls in Pennsylvania and Colorado. In Colorado, likely voters break 42% for Trump, 41% for Clinton, 13% for Libertarian Gary Johnson and 3% for Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Pennsylvania's likely voters split 45% for Clinton, 44% for Trump, 6% for Johnson and 3% for Stein. Those divides are well within each poll's 3.5-point margin of sampling error.
The new results in two battleground states underscore the closeness of the race and come as the candidates prepare to square off Monday night in their high-stakes first debate at Long Island's Hofstra University. In both states, sharp divisions among whites by education are evident, with white college graduates choosing Clinton over Trump by 11 points in Pennsylvania and 16 points in Colorado, while whites who do not hold four-year degrees break in Trump's favor by 19 points in Pennsylvania and 22 points in Colorado.

You knew something was up over the last two weeks when you saw Obama and Clinton campaigning in Philadelphia -- one of the most heavily Democratic places anywhere in the country.
This is grave news for the Dems. The rough equivalent of Trump being down a point in SC and up only one point in TX.
Plus the hidden “Monster Vote” for Trump.
Trump is gaining in Virginia too! This is very interesting indeed. I saw on twitter that Trump is reaching out to the younger people through Snapchat. He is leaving no stone unturned.
Yep, news came down yesterday that Hillary already gave up on Ohio and has no more scheduled events in the state.
She will campaign in New Hamphire on Wednesday. If she is playing defense in the Northeast she is in trouble.
Just their way of easing the crash landing for their queen.
I vote in Philly just so it forces the machine to throw my vote away.
I wonder if they will be able to "play giddy" tomorrow morning.
The machine won’t throw your vote away; it will just flip it to Hillary.
If Cankles has given up in Ohio, then the internal polls must be showing a much larger Trump lead than what MSM is telling us.
Sounds GREAT!
TRUMP always overperforms in polling!!!
Tied in PA is just GREAT!!!
Very curious that Hillary may be losing Ohio and Florida, dropping to a tie in Pennsylvania - yet she is barely campaigning anywhere. I don’t think she’s giving up, but none of the likely explanations are good for her.
My best explanations of her behavior are - poor health, desperate reliance on the debate, and a recognition that she does worse when she campaigns because people dislike her. Sitting on a lead is not the reason.
Don’t forget! TRUMP is gonna drop $140 million in ads in swing States! That should give him a BUMP!
Feel good story of the day !!!
If CNN is reporting they are "deadlocked", I have no doubt Trump is winning.
