This is pure BS. There is no fracture in the conservative movement. There are conservatives and there are pseudo-conservatives. Two different things altogether.

And what has the “conservative movement” achieved post Reagan era? Nothing. Therefore you could argue there is no conservative movement. What you have, IMO, is grass roots conservative voters being abused by climbing career “conservative” politicians like Ted Cruz. Conservatism has been so caricatured and marginalized as to not be a force in national politics.
Trump is no Conservative, let's not delude ourselves. He's a populist with some Conservative leanings. A true Conservative at least in diction was Ted Cruz and he was soundly defeated, even in Pubbie only primary states. Constitutional Conservatism is not a majority school of thought in the US and it will be hard to get a true Conservative elected. The mushy middle mouthbreathers buy too many cliches and watches too much reality TV. In addition they suck on the teat of government somewhat also.
True. There are freeper conservatives who believe conservative is as conservative does. And there are posers who make up the conservative industry with no effort ever recorded to offer anything other than opinion.
