When You Hear the Margin of Error Is Plus or Minus 3 Percent, Think 7 Instead ...

The New York Times core readers are a very sensitive bunch. Remember Carter was ahead of Reagan by 5 points just prior to the election and oh no Carter lost. They are trying to prepare their readers that despite a lead for Clinton prior to the election , the pollsters, oh no, just might be wrong. Or in the parlance of the Left “Mistakes were made...”
sounds like they know they don’t have a clue on polling and trying to cover themselves.. Been 25 years since stat class, but that high error rate they don’t have high confidence level.
What’s the quickest degree i can get in psychoanalysis and not get arrested :)
just something to hang on my door and make a fortune off of my fellow NYers who happen to be liberal.
As a polysci major I learned that the more is +/- for each of two choices.
This is the NYTs setting up for the inevitable collapse in the polls for Hillary. The polling organizations won’t carry her all the way to the election because they have reputations to protect. When they start shifting to better polling samples, the media will suddenly be filled with stories about the unreliability of polls.
I used to work on campaigns back in the day.
If the pollster said they had a margin of error of seven points they were fired—immediately.
More smoke and mirrors from the New York slimes.
That there’s funny.
The poll that was closest in 2014 was unfortunately..NBC/WAPOST...they nailed it.
I’m searching now! :)
looking up the term “is” :)
Imagine all the worrying about TRUMP going after the Judge,The Beauty Queen, the Debate lost but it’s all for nothing cause TRUMP wins in a LANDSLIDE! LOL
So Hillary is still winning, lol
Exactly. Trump is about to break out of the margin of error. This is the NYT 'splaining how that really isn't anything and despite Trump's apparent lead, they are really still ties.
Over sampling of one side and counting things like a “non-response” do not constitute reliable data...
Yeah, but I will bet you a bottle of Wild Turkey 101 that they will not nail it this year. It is random chance. They got lucky.
Reputation really?! All rags and pollsters reputations went out the window with this election quite sometime ago!! If the mediapukes and pollsters care about their integrity and reputations they would’ve guarded it a tad better instead of lying through their teeth 24/7 for the most corrupt criminal in America! AMERICANS HATE THE MEDIASCUM MORE than ever!!!
I politely declined and hung up.
That wasn't luck. They just accurately polled the dead.
