Hey Doug—I can call you Doug, right?—The operative word is “owner.” As in “I paid for it; it’s mine to do with as I please.” Another term for owner is Boss.
The other operative work is “employee.” As in, what you are.
Employees work for bosses. The appropriate response from an employee to a boss is “Yes sir.” (or ma’am, as the case may be).
If you don’t like the situation, you can leave.
Simple as that.
Well it sure as heck ain’t Dan Rooney.
He became a top-level Obama butt kisser on order to land that ambassadorship.
Jerry Jones likely is. Dislike the man all you want, but he does a lot of good in the community as well. He held the funeral service at Cowboys Stadium for Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
He also tried to honor the Dallas police offers murdered by the BLM movement with a sticker on the back of their helmets, but the NFL wouldn’t allow it. Goodell has to go.
Go Cowboys!
If I owned a team I would drop any player that did this.
We can observe which teams allow it and which don’t.
Then we know who is a real American...............
“Keep boycotting the FNL until all owners comply.”
I take it you mean the NFL.
Also everyone should refrain from purchasing ANYTHING connected to the NFL and their sponsors, such as Nike, Gatorade, etc.
Let Dick’s Sporting Goods, et. al., go complaining to the NFL that going ‘anti-American’ ain’t good for business - that’ll have quite a bit impact as well.
Jerry Jones went into the locker room before the Cowboys Giants game yesterday. He looked around at all the young men and addressed them as a group. Regardless of your personal opinions, this is a sacred day that we recognize the sacrifice and pain that so many have endured. When the National Anthem is played by a lone trumpet player in a few minutes you WILL stand and you WILL put your hand over your hearts. Jerry waited a second and made eye contact with several players to make sure his words had sunk in. He knew he had there undivided attention and proceeded. You gentlemen are world class athletes, but you are also actors. You perform on a stage that is 100 yards long. Today, you play the role of a patriotic super hero. You will play this role well because you know that millions of children will be watching and looking at your example. Then his inner fire started to shine through as he said quietly but most of all I want you to remember, you are the actors, but this is MY stage and you will play the role I tell you to.
Dan Snyder and the Washington Redskins have acted respectfully and so has Jerry Jones and the Cowboys...but they're still part of the NFL so I'm not watching.
Took a picture of my new Michelin tires and sent it to them.
The first Amendment only guarantees free speech without retribution from the GOVERNMENT, not private businesses.
You protest on your own time and in your own place....
Over all work ethic (around me at least here) is gone.
I do a great job. But I also have my own personal criteria.
I get to work on time.
I rarely call in sick.
I take short lunch breaks(1 hour)
I work.
I am very rarely late.
I do not bring my personal life to the office.
I know I am a freak.
But I wonder, what happened?
Additionally, behind enemy lines in libville.....
Agree with your point on the players but over all is not work ethic gone?? I find this frustrating!
I wonder what owner that was. He and I could be friends. I am already in full boycott mode.
If kopernick had any brains he would stop his stupid ‘protest’ and say “I made a mistake using my professional career as a forum for my personal political beliefs and from now on I will only do that off the field”
But he clearly is prettty stupid
Thank you! I am appalled by the number of people who do not understand this.
I’m a Cowboys fan, but that speech has been debunked. It didn’t happen. However, all of the Cowboys did stand for the National Anthem.
back in my day, high school and college coaches would tell players what haircuts were acceptable.
Broncos LB Brandon Marshall has been awfully quiet since he lost two endorsements. I’ll bet a bunch of players heard from their agents, too.
I read where Jerry Jones said that any Cowboy who didn't stand for the national anthem would not be a Cowboy by the end of the day.
As a long time Cowboys fan, I'm good with that.
