His story seems fishy to me in that he, his lawyer & his “community” are so concerned with the hair.
Why on earth would 3 beer drinkin’ “road raging” oil refinery workers from Louisiana & Texas want to “cut someones f**king hair”? How would these southerners know the customs & traditions of the Sikhs?
It sounds like he got a beat down after he “returned fire” with the beer can...the police report says he threw it back at them, he now denies that through his lawyer.
And this gem “Prosecutors plan to re-interview Khalsa next week to get to the bottom of certain discrepancies between the police report and his lawyer’s allegations”
I doubt he was attacked because these guys hated Sikhs/Muslims and were anxious to cut his hair.
Yes, the Sikhs religion is kind of cool actually. Nothing like Islam.
The Sikhs have been aware of the evil that is the religion of piss for far longer than most.
Having met both Sikhs and drunken Texans and Louisianans, I’d bet they threw a beer can at him and he threw it back.
Neither group would be likely to back down. Although this might be called mutual combat, it’s actually a racist attack on the Sikh. Lock up the southerners, and let the Sikh go.
Sadly, I work with stupid ignoramus types that had to be educated about Sikhs. I wasn’t very gentle with the verbal education. I’m pretty sure the education stuck

But, the Sikhs really shouldn’t be coming to this country and expect to not be harassed. It’s too difficult to expect Americans to know anything about them.
I had a Hindu girlfriend from Bombay. She thought she was treated poorly after 9/11. I told her to expect it.
I see the same treatment when I go to Asia. Americans are treated poorly there in some instances. I have no false expectations.

We don’t.
Too many times “hate crimes” are alleged and too many times they were found to be manufactured/invented.
So, just as all people are not saints, this could be a case where this Sikh was not one of the good guys and was part of a road-rage incident.
Don’t know yet. . .but then again, three red-necks in a pick-up, they must be guilty hate-crime bigots. . . .
A strong tradition of never-cut-hair is not very cool. Otherwise, Sikhs are generally cool and civil.
