WILLISTON, Vt. – A man driving the wrong way on an interstate highway in Vermont spawned several crashes that left five high school juniors dead, an unknown number injured and at least two vehicles in flames, including a stolen police cruiser, state police said Sunday.

I live in Washington State and there has been so many wrong way head-on that I don’t even want to get on the road anymore. I was almost killed by one a few years back.

We just left Williston and are moving to California. My wife is freaked out about this because my son is the same age as the five kids and was on that stretch of road the day before. He is in a different high school.
To steal a police cruiser and cause additional damage is despicable.
What gets me is that too many of these maniacs walk way unscathed.
Death and destruction for everyone else, and very little happens to them.

Did a little research on the Perp - his father (age 67) died from cancer last year in Ohio. He has been in trouble with the law for domestic violence against his girlfriend in Massachusetts and Vermont. They have a two year old child, and he threatened to kill her if she didn’t let him see his child, etc etc. He looks as whitebread as can be, but sports a beard, which is not unusual in VT. Stay tuned to learn if he is a muzlim convert.
No, he was a white guy - a very average white guy...who caused an accident, then stole a police vehicle when the officer was saving a young woman’s life from a burning car, then hit no less than seven different vehicles including a VW Passat with 5 teenagers in it. All five died. The perp was ejected from the vehicle. He lived. The guy apparently lived a completely obscure, innocuous, whitebread kind of life. Until now.
Bizarre and tragic story all around.

IIRC, the thought is that alcohol relaxes the body, which lessens the damage. And yeah, unless a liberal judge decides he needs “treatment” and not punishment, he’s a permanent houseguest of the State of Vermont.
This particular POS is in critical condition, but you are correct that too many walk away.
