Many of the questions address Mental Health.

Will the data be used to address PTSD?
Or, to take your guns away, or at least keep you from buying them?

I just got it yesterday.
I meant to post this as a vanity, but not sure if that’s right either.

The VA sent Vietnam Era Vets a "Health Survey"
VN "Era" indicates veteran was not in-country.
My guess is the gubmint will conclude that 'Nam vets are no worse off medically than "era" vets - so quit whining.

It doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t have answered anything to this government without my lawyer present anyway.

You posted two legitimate concerns re any survey like this, controlled by the Obama/Clinton mob.
1.Will the data be used to address PTSD?
2.Or, to take your guns away, or at least keep you from buying them?
Too bad, this could be a valuable study of large numbers of people and could help identify disease patterns in a large segment of our population.
We have several friends, in laws, and just people we know, who have Parkinson’s, and none of them served in Nam. We don’t know any Nam vets with Parkinson’s. Of course our data base is very small.
If I get the survey, I will throw it away.

You could be correct.

The government has already decided that if you were exposed to Agent Orange (which was contaminated with dioxin) and you develop diabetes, that is a service-related injury.
There are also on-going studies about the Gulf War Syndrome. What caused it is not known, but it is debilitating to those who have it.

True, but the study supposedly will determine if the rate of diabetes is higher in 'Nam vets or non-Nam vets?

The study that established that exposure to Agent Orange increases the risk of diabetes was done in the 1980s and 1990s.
The researcher who did the study looked at medical records of Vietnam veterans who had been exposed to Agent Orange and compare their rate of developing a number of diseases versus a non-exposed population. After exhaustively comparing the incidence of many diseases, he finally found that the rate of diabetes was higher in exposed Vietnam era vets. He took this result to Congress and got them to agree to include diabetes as a covered service-related illness.
I can find out the name of the researcher if you want. He came to give a seminar to our department when I was in graduate school, but I do not remember his name.

You're missing my point. As a 'Nam vet I'm more than aware of Agent Orange (AO) and what illnesses it may or may not have caused.
However, the purpose of the latest survey will be to compare VN vets' heath to non - VN vets' health.
As an aside ... the Air Force operation that sprayed AO was called Operation Ranch Hand.
Many studies of the AF vets involved directly with that operation show their health is no worse than other AF vets not involved.
