The pool of popular votes per electoral vote may be smaller for the smaller states vs. the larger ones. That is, the electoral votes of California may represent more popular votes than an equivalent number of popular votes coming from a group of smaller states with equal electoral votes.

Thanks. I can’t prove it of course but I doubt California’s popular vote would have been as high without illegals voting, and of course they did.

That’s the beauty of the system; you can only screw around with your own locality.

Forcing the other states to do what you want is an entirely different matter.

I’m looking for the updated results...

Thanks! My husband and I have been going round and round over the E.V. process. I didn’t completely understand it except that by doing it this way it gives states with smaller populations a more equal voice in elections. I’ll email this link to him to read and it makes more sense to me now also.

While the numbers don’t seem as updated as these, the New York Times has a pretty good graphic presentation of the vote.

Note that there are several different formats that can be selected, by clicking on small icons.

Romney blew a very winnable election.
The last four years are the fault of the Miraculous Mormon.

Mail ballots continue to trickle in, in CA, CO and WA, along with some overseas ballots. It is possible Trump will equal to number of votes received by Romney, Bear in mind that the third-party candidates received substantially more votes than they did four years ago.

NON-SOCIALISTS:
Trump (47.3) + Johnson (3.3) + McMullin (0.4) + Castle (0.1) = 51.1 percent

SOCIALISTS:
Clinton (47.7) + Stein (1.0) = 48.7 percent

(leaving 0.2 percent scattered)

If we had instant run-off (as was just adopted by citizens initiative in Maine), We would have also won: CO, ME, MN, NV, NH (still undecided) and NM; also NV-SEN, NH-SEN and NC-GOV.

You must realize that the “Hillary Clinton” vote count includes millions of non qualified illegal alien voters, Republican/Democrat establishment voters, trying to protect the status quo and the Democrats using the still registered dead folks as active voters!!!. If you took all the illegal alien votes out of the California vote totals...Trump would have won California!!!

Trump must urge the fifty states to change their voting laws. No person in the USA should ever be allowed to vote without showing an approved voter, photo ID. The voter rolls should be cleaned every year of dead voters, or voters that have moved, or votrs that have more then one residence.. I have been out of Texas for almost five years and I still received voter information from my Texas voting precinct. So...I could have flown out to Texas, voted, using my old Voter ID card, an no one would have noticed anything. Shameful!!! Thak God for Donald J. Trump!!!

The Feds need to encourage the state consortiums that exchange voter info. I think one is called EPIC or ERIC or something like that. This is a database matching problem and not particularly difficult. The biggest problem is standardizing data so people can be compared.

Trump must urge the fifty states to change their voting laws.

I agree and would rather not have a federal database, just clean up the state databases.

Calling that idiot Gary Johnson a “non-socialist” is a stretch. He’s even more of a douchebag than that commie, Jill Stein.

I’d like to see congressional district boundaries drawn for each state in such a way as to minimize the total length of the boundaries, and redrawn after each census. No more gerrymandered districts that resemble severely deformed octopi.

It’ll never happen.

Statisticians will be analyzing the vote for years.

I notice two things:

1. The 3rd party candidates acquired roughly 7 million votes. That is a sizeable number. It may account for some of the 8 million Dem votes that have disappeared since 2008, when Obama got about 69 million. Numerous GOPestablishment types bragged that they voted for ‘other’.

2. Most of the states Trump won, he won by significant majorities. A few were only 1 or 2 percentage points, but many were up to 30 percentage points. The Dems would have a difficult time using those numbers to justify their claiming the race was close based on the popular vote, because the popular vote per state reflects the Electoral College tally.

“Romney blew a very winnable election.

I have said it before. Romney was told to lose. He wiped the floor with Barry in the first debate, then completely backed off. Trump is not controlled by the people that put Obama in power.
