At a low enough price imports of Saudi crude will do just fine. Now, if the issue is not stopping imports at a price they like, that's a different matter.

Bottom line, they're energy independent, why shouldn't we be?

Actually no, somebody like China can pick up the slack instead of us. I don’t know if this has changed, but I believe a few years ago our Canadian oil imports exceeded our Saudi imports by a bit. Sooner or later, the Saudis would get less and less purchased by us to avoid another 1970s oil crisis.
