If violation of an oath is not some type of a crime, then a GOP congress should make it a crime worthy of jail time.

It’s a crime under many state laws. In Georgia for example, violation of oath of office by any public officer carries a 1-5 year prison term.

I just heard the mayor of Los Angeles say (in English) that cities don’t enforce federal law.

Since robbing a bank is against federal law does that mean that LAPD will look the other way?

Maybe it’s more like treason.

It’s a violation of an oath, but perjury is deliberately lying under oath in court or before some other sort of legal tribunal.

If A Mayor Violates Oath Of Office To Uphold The Law By Keeping Sanctuary City..Is That Perjury?

Shouldn't we start with something a little bigger - like Obama, the President of the U.S. who takes his oath of office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution only to violate that oath continually by purposefully ignoring the Constitution and deliberately stepping outside of his constitutional limitations? What the penalty for that?

It’s just a typical Democrat crime.

That involves interpreting the law. As you know, there are as many interpretations as there are lawyers and judges.

Great! Start with CA Lt Gov Gavin Newsom and charge him retroactively for contributing to the sanctuary city of San Francisco.

It’s violating the law. Calling it “sanctuary city” doesn’t change anything.

Believe it is treason! Yes, by law they MUST be charged, tried, and if found guilty by a Grand Jury, face years in jail.

First, I'm 100% in favor of cutting off funds to those cities.

Second, please remember States’ (and localities’) Rights. A mayor must execute the laws given by the City Council, to include Sanctuary City laws. So, here the city's and nation's laws conflict.

This is similar to the Ghey Marriage ruling thrust on states. The states should have a right to ignore it. In fact, governors should be bound by enforcing the only real laws that exist in the matter: their states’.

So, shouldn't mayors be bound to enforce Sanctuary Cities?

Just cut their funding, as Trump proposes.

It’s giving aid and comfort to the enemy. The Constitution has a word for that.

Here is the short version:

There are already far too many laws and regulations on the books.

They are currently used selectively to oppress We The People.

The existing laws are more than adequate to prosecute treasonous state and federal officers.

All that is needed is the executive resolve to do so.

I remember seeing a video of of Comrade Wilhelm taking the oath of office before BillyBob and only swearing to uphold the City of New York's charter...not state,or Federal, law.Don't know if that's typical of the oath that mayors take.
