I’m with you. She must be a good choice since they don’t like her. The NEA isn’t about educating children, it is all about union power and propagandizing children to the leftist ideology.

Teaching was once a respected profession...Most were there because they loved what they did and loved seeing the students excel...

Then....Enter the NEA....

When you get to the age....join HSLDA (we are required to). They have lots of good info on state requirements and offer legal backup.

I can’t speak to NEA contracts, but I can to at least some teachers’ pensions. In the school district where I taught, there was no “lifetime medical insurance”, quite the opposite. When I turned 65 and switched to Medicare (I was still teaching at the time), the district paid for my Part B and Part D expenses. They averaged about $300 less per month than the district’s provided health plan. No, I did not get the extra money, in fact my income for purposes of my pension was decreased by that amount. One reason I retired at 66 was it no longer made economic sense to keep teaching.

I thought she tweeted she’s against Common Core.

She did. She is.

Eskelsen García: Trump nominee supports failed education policies that hurt students

Because the NEA only encourages those practices that have demonstrably benefited students ... Which is why our children are such well-behaved, literate, well-informed competitors in the global marketplace.

... if they're HOME-schooled.

“Every day, educators use their voice to advocate for every student to reach his or her full potential."

I was speaking to the California plan, which will be every state should the NEA have their way.

We need to fix the failing inner city schools. Step aside, NEA. Your lily white suburban public schools are safe.

Yes, I was not NEA—NEA kicked out the Missouri State Teachers Assoc. back in the early 70s when MSTA refused to require NEA membership. NEA is back here but mainly in the cities. On the other hand, the Missouri teacher pension plan is relatively solvent, esp. compared to the Calif and Illinois systems.

The NEA is stealing children’s money and education for their RV trips. How can teachers hate children so much?

Agreed. Wasn’t it Eisenhower who said you shouldn’t have public sector unions because they should work for the taxpayer, and the negotiations of employer versus employees is excluding the people paying for it?
