Buenos Aires says permit for Trump-linked project not authorized

The city of Buenos Aires has declined to authorize a permit to build an office tower linked to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, and developers will have to file new paperwork for it to be reconsidered, the city government said in a statement on Friday.

The “Trump Tower” project near Buenos Aires’ central obelisk made international headlines after a local news report said Trump mentioned the proposed office complex when Argentine President Mauricio Macri put in a congratulatory call to Trump after his Nov. 8 election victory.

The Macri administration said the reports were untrue and that the project was not mentioned during the call.

Trump, a businessman who has never held public office, has real estate and leisure holdings all over the world, sparking concerns his investments could color his decision-making in office.

The Buenos Aires city government issued its statement “in response to public interest in the possible construction of the so-called ‘Trump Tower’ in the center of Buenos Aires.”

Trump would best get terrorism/war inxurance clauses for his properties.
Costs a bit but...

I would expect Trumps companies to grow faster in the next 8 years then the past 8 even if he were to spend his presidency watching sporting events and playing golf.

...sparking concerns his investments could color his decision-making in office.

I expect them to. He isn't entering office from the perspective of a politician who seeks to rule over us but while being insulated from the effects of his own policies--he is entering as a private citizen who understands that the actions of government affect people's lives. I also expect him to make decisions that will protect his investments--thus, he will not launch into military conflict over cyber attacks the way Hillary was threatening to. He'll avoid conflicts, since he stands to lose investments over them.

Look, Peter Schweitzer called Trump out on this. He has got to hand his business interests over to his kids, or else put it in a blind trust. He is the soon-to-be President now, the last thing I want to hear is that he brokered a peace treaty with Assad in exchange to build a Trump Tower in Damascus. Even Breitbart has been harsh on Trump, criticizing his Dept. of Education pick.

If you FReepers think I'm going to sit back and be complacent on Trump, you're crazy. My end objective is getting the Constitution restored and the federal government limited.

He’s been saying for 18 months his kids are going to handle the business. Does he have to sign in blood?

Knock yourself out. As long as he strategically gets his legislation through particularly the wall, corporate tax cuts, and stopping Iran from nukes and China from taking over, I will gladly cut him slack on whatever else he wants to do. He doesn't need to try to please the press about his business interests because they are going to lie about it no matter what.

“My end objective is getting the Constitution restored and the federal government limited. “

Sounds good. In that case, support Trump, because that is what he is working on exactly.

Ignore these Freeper clowns and you are correct. Always be on guard and people here let their guards down after the WIN. It’s not over. Everyday becomes harder now.

Complacency got us an FR who is now a mix of libertarians and faggot-lovers. You know you’re not on FR anymore when one Freeper comments that “gay gun owners are more conservative than straight gun owners”. (Yeah, I do have that on record)

Make it your first objective, and save your ammo for the Left.

He'll probably do it when he gets closer to his inauguration.

They already are. Eric handled the golf course in Scotland (?) and Ivanka handled the old post office.

I've been on the Trump train since he declared, but let's be real, he's a stop-gap measure to restore the rule of law and honest government back to the people. He's not going to downsize the federal government or restore the Constitution, and that's fine for now. He will set Pence up for that.

Another person that’s gonna “hold Trump’s feet to the fire”.

Bet he’s gonna walk the straight and narrow now. /s

Trump’s clearly stated he is signing the business over to his kids. It won’t be enough to satisfy ANYONE who hates he is going to be president.

Get over yourself, sheesh.

I'm just petrified by concern.

NOT!
