Top Muslim University Rejects Reform, Stands by ‘Terrorist Curriculum’

Much of the curriculum of Al Azhar—the Islamic world’s most prestigious university, located in Cairo—is based on Islamic books written in the medieval era or earlier.  These books—histories, biographies of Muhammad, hadith (words and deeds of the latter), tafsirs (Koran exegeses), etc.—are often criticized by more reform-minded Muslims for being too backwards, teaching things such as unrelenting jihad and hatred for non-Muslims.

During a recent televised interview, Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, Egypt’s highest authority on Islam and Grand Imam of Al Azhar, was asked about his university’s reliance on these books.  His responses left many reformers disappointed.

"the “religious discourse” articulated in the Medieval era—one of hostility and violence for the other, in a word, jihad—is the only “discourse” Muslims can accept."

The so called "moderate" versions of Islam are just smokescreens to fool the easily duped into complacency while the Muslims infiltrate. Muslims use the religious tolerance in our secular laws against us. As soon as they are able, Muslims will establish Islamic law and destroy our society.

This is all exactly what the Koran and supporting texts instruct them to do.

The author needs to take a more careful look at Al Azhar University and its transformation in the 1930s. We used to refer to Al Azhar as “Terrorism U”. There have been very few terrorist leaders of the last 40 or 50 years that didn’t attend there at one time or another...

Too bad we don’t have a number of “rogue” drones flying around in that area, a total wipeout is obviously needed.

The Non-Islamic World better wake up. Islam demands submission or death from Infidels. I vote death to Islam.

Islam needs a Reformation, where its doctrines are re-examined objectively from the ground up.

This article: http://raymondibrahim.com/2011/10/20/the-closing-of-the-muslim-mind/ points out that islam really got locked into its current rigidity in the 10th century, with a deliberate rejection of logical and moral analyses, in favor of blind obedience.

President al-Sisi in Egypt has come out in favor of a new open debate, as has King Abdullah in Jordan. The problem remains however, that anyone who takes an active role in arguing for a new view of islam, is likely to be murdered.

We need a major influence operation to help drive an islamic reformation. Let the Voice of America (or a series of surrogates) beam in real debates, from safe havens in the West. Let’s have campaigns to shame muslims for backwardness and brutality. Let’s promote those preaching open-mindedness and moderation, and undercut those promoting the medieval rigidity that produces such obviously satanic barbarity. Kick Wahhabis out Western universities, and install reformers into endowed chairs and new think tanks.

Let’s strip resources from our enemies, and steer resources to our friends in this struggle. Replace the leadership at al Azhar with reformers. Force the Saudis to do the same with their state-appointed clerics, and to drain the funding they provide to raising their “Foreign Legion” of international jihadis. That is the root of the problem.

Killing jihadis on the battlefield is of limited usefulness, when a network of extremist mosques around the world continues to produce a growing stream of replacements.
