A Mexican man must serve life in a U.S. prison for stalking and helping arrange the 2013 Texas slaying of a lawyer who'd been the acting head of a Mexican drug cartel.
Jose Luis Cepeda-Cortes was sentenced Thursday in Fort Worth. The case involved the shooting death of Juan Jesus Guerrero Chapa in Southlake, near Dallas.
Cepeda-Cortes in May was convicted of interstate stalking, conspiracy to commit murder for hire and tampering with documents or proceedings.
Officials said the tampering involved efforts to destroy evidence on his computer.
His cousin, Jesus Gerardo Ledezma-Cepeda, was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder for hire and tampering and was sentenced to 20 years after testifying against his father and his father's cousin.
Prosecutors say the 60-year-old cousins, who were convicted in May 2016, used electronic devices to track the victim before he was killed by an attacker still at large.

What, they didn’t give him a medal, or at least 99 years off for good behavior?
OK, ok, he was a scum. But still.

I read somewhere that every inmate in jail costs taxpayers $50K. And someone on death row, a $100K.

Soooooooo... He kills a lawyer, gets life imprisonment.
If he was driving drunk and killed a pregnant white lady and her kids, he’d be let go because he “feels bad” just like every other instance?
(Yes, rather similar in my eyes as drunk driving is a premeditated act.)

Drunk driving is treated more like negligence.

Yes. That’s the annual cost, unless they want the “gender transition” option which is more.

They should have given him the key to the city for eliminating the head of a Mexican drug cartel.

I read somewhere that every inmate in jail costs taxpayers $50K. And someone on death row, a $100K. And to complete the picture, I've read that the average unjailed criminal does $250K in damage to society each year. If that's actually true, prisons are a bargain.

I don’t think this applies to all unjailed criminals - we incarcerate excessively. In any case, my point here is that this is not fair to the American tax-payer because this criminal is not American.

Too bad for him this didn’t happen in a sanctuary city. Blame it on the Trump racists.
