2nd best state for Trump: Trump 68.7, Clinton 26.5. Only Wyoming came in better: Trump 70.1 Clinton 22.5.

My first thought. Shouldn’t take much

they will continue to lose a significant portion of the electorate in rural states like his Munchkin must face We the People in 2018 ... and he's not universally liked.

Current Senate rules are for 51 votes. Thank you, Democrats and Gang of 14 RINOs. I think that's for anyone other than a SCOTUS nominee.

I kind of like him, from what I have vetted so far... Manchin? That dishonest socialist gun-grabbing toad?
Poor job of "vetting" you're doing there.
How 'bout you "vet" his voting record in the Senate?
To: GonzoII
His replacement for Scalia will go through easily. It’ll get interesting what happens when he has to get a replacement for a liberal justice though.

I don’t see RBG living another 4 years....can you imagine Chucky’s flailing about when Trump tries replacing the most left wing member of the court? It will be funny.

Honestly, were you surprised that they turned out to be...bad?? They were known bad batches well prior to nomination.
Of course not. I am just disgusted that the clown got away with everything with next to no push back, and we are expected to let them stop anyone who isn't mushy enough. Trump, I am learning to trust. McConnell, not so much.

I was wading around in the chit over at DU the other day and they seem to absolutely hate Manchin.
That says a lot of good things for him in my book.

For Supreme Court only, it takes 60 votes to have a vote.

That’s just it, they are Senate Rules, there is no Constitutional Mandate for a 60 vote majority. And, I think the rules would change if it weren’t for that absolute waste of skin Mitch McScrotumNeck.

That is only a Senate RULE!

Manchin? That dishonest socialist gun-grabbing toad? Poor job of "vetting" you're doing there. How 'bout you "vet" his voting record in the Senate? Actually Manchin is a political animal voting with his party when he thought it was in accedency. He will always vote this way even when he turns Republican. He is not to be trusted but will be a reliable Republican vote as we are in power. Yes he would turn to the dark side again if it was politically expedient.
Actually his vote for gun grabbing almost assures he will be a loyal Republican. If he ever returns to the dark side this will be his political death. I lived in West Virgina for a year. Their politics of love of gun will destroy Manchin in the next election if he is not a Republican.
Manchin knows what the political tea leaves say!

I would trade McCain for Joe Manchin and throw in the next draft pick. Manchin is an astute political animal which we can deal with, McCain actually believes the BS that he says.

Well, considering the nominee will most likely be Senator Mike Lee of Utah and thus one of their colleagues, it will make it harder to dismiss him as an extremist. Theyll try, of course, but hes generally well liked. Rs may have to go nuclear, but Im fine with that since Republicans never mount opposition to Dem appointments anyway, so losing the filibuster for the supreme court is meaningless to us. Mike Lee supported the CubaNadian, stabbed the President-Elect throughout the primaries and is a a##hole buddy of the other backstabber, Romney. The Court doesn't need another snake masquerading as a constitutional conservative. It already has the precious, shameless, fraud, Roberts.
