The Ohio State Senate today passed legislation that would ban all abortions after an unborn babys heart begins to beat. An unborn childs heart begins to beat at 22 days after conception or earlier.
Should the measure be approved by the full Ohio State Legislature and be signed into law, the legislation would likely be struck down in court as has been the case and two other states Arkansas and North Dakota.
As the Ohio General Assembly considers bills in these last days of lame duck session before the years end, significant amendments are being added to various laws to pass additional legislation. Today the Ohio Senate added Ohios Unborn Heartbeat Protection bill, which has been before the legislature for several years, as an amendment to House Bill 493 child abuse reporting law. The Senate has approved H.B. 493 with Heartbeat protection amendment 21-10.

I wonder if Kasich will sign it. Is he prolife "enough" to do that?
We pray this happens. Can you imagine how many little heartbeats have been stopped because of murder!

While I like the direction this goes, I have to say that it assumes we know when exactly the point that life begins, and not knowing that risks murder, and assumes the role of God.
Do you really believe our phony self-centered gov is pro-life? The only thing he’s “pro” is those who pay him off. JMHO
I would sign the bill. Contrary to Obama’s stinking thinking along with all liberal pigs, abortion is not one of the values Americans hold dear.
I remember our getting to hear our baby’s heartbeat at about 6-7 weeks. Seriously. It was such a memorable moment. A wonderfully experienced nurse midwife provided for the opportunity. We tried for about what seemed like an hour to pick up the heartbeat and then finally, she heard it and then we heard it. My husband and I were so moved to tears. It was so incredibly remarkable and my only regret is I didn’t document the date.
Just because we can’t hear it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.
Nevertheless, it’s a good start. Watch all the fang-tooth feminazis spitting fire.
I think it is at 56 million since Roe vs. Wade.
what about the mother’s heart beat? /s
Kasich eon’t sign it. He is a liberal on George Soros payroll.
And all brought to you by the psychotic, demonic feminist movement of the 60s. Gloria Steinem and company, proponents of the greatest mass murder in history.
It’s a good first step. We conservatives sometimes want to squash everything at one time when it is easier done one step at a time. Notice how liberals have used the step by step incrementalism for years.
Very good!
Mass murderers.
We do. Human life begins when a human ovum is fertilized by a human spermatozoan. After that occurs a new, distinct human life exists.
That human's heartbeat doesn't become detectable until some weeks later. Still, this legislation is a good first step toward sensible reproductive health laws.
