The dangerous power of vicious fake news was clearly demonstrated Sunday when a gunman walked into a Washington, D.C., restaurant that has been the target of a phony pedophilia conspiracy theory and fired an assault weapon. Saner elements of our society cannot allow this kind of activity to flourish.
In the run-up to the presidential election, some right-wingers with no evidence or facts propagated a loony theory that top Democrats, including Hillary Clinton and her campaign manager, operated a child sex ring out of Washington’s Comet Ping Pong restaurant. The alt-right echo chamber rushed the falsehood to hundreds of thousands of followers online. One stoker of the bogus hoax showed up to shoot video from inside the restaurant. Predictably — although the debunked fabrication was a blatant lie — the restaurant’s owner and employees soon were showered with online abuse, including many death threats. Even Washington Post reporters were targeted by online threats Sunday after they posted an account of the incident at Comet Ping Pong.
It was never clear to me, and still isn’t, that there is anything to “pizza gate.”There was so much else wrong - egregiously wrong - about the Clinton candidacy that I saw no need to assume the worst about “pizza.” “Pizza” might really be pizza - but Benghazi is in fact Benghazi, and the Clintons took money from foreign governments while she was Secretary of State. It matters when government officials lie. And violate rules for national security, on an assembly line basis. And lie some more.
It mattered when Billy Dale was persecuted on Hillary’s orders, early in the (thankfully, only) Clinton Administration, and it still matters today. There is no point in trying to recount all the disqualifying misdeeds of Hillary Clinton; sufficient to say that their name is legion. And Wikileaks revealed that legions of reporters were functioning as adjuncts to the Clinton campaign, both in the primary and in the general election.
And yet for an entire week in October, nothing was news that did not relate to a juvenile, gauche, story told by Trump a decade ago (when he was registered as a Democrat) which had been recorded without Trump’s knowledge (and presumably illegally).

Most of that fake news was silence in wire service journalism - all of it - about the legion of reasons why Hillary Clinton would have been a disastrous choice for POTUS.All very well to say that the Wikileaks informations was illegally obtained - but that never matters to journalists in pursuit of a story which casts a Republican in a bad light.
The context the word ‘pizza’ was used in the emails doesn’t sound like it was about bread with toppings.
That’s for sure. I leave it at that for now.
That the scumbags are pouring so much energy into this desperate attempt to discredit the info gained from wikileaks proves that there’s a hella lot of fire under all that smoke issuing from those wikileaks.
Pay attention to the pattern. It’s long developed and unhidden. Cause to effect over time.

I am BETTING that this editorial board didn’t whine about FAKE NEWS when Hitlery and Hussein and Susan Rice and a buttload of media outlets REPEATED THE LIE ad nauseum that a YOU TUBE VIDEO was what triggered the murder of four Americans in Libya.

Conspiracies have been around a long time. 9/11, Sandy Hook, Boston Bombing; just to name a few. I don’t remember the media getting this uptight before, not even close.

Imo, to believe a single word that comes out of the msm for the foreseeable future is to voluntarily drop trousers, bend over a bench and be the punk.

I believe that the entire "fake news" meme was started by the Clinton people in order give the MSM something that would allow them to obfuscate and thus excoriate their new Nemesis, the Alt-Right. And thus run interference, of a sort, for Hillary and her minions where this possible child sex thing is concerned. They had to get out in front of it because left to run its course it could be a nuclear bomb for Hillary et al.
For whatever it is worth, some of the references to food items in the Wikileaks did not sound like what one would normally do with food.
However, I’m surprised that the lefty answer to the revelation of (approximately?) “Oh let’s meet for some pizza at Comet Ping Pong” and the accusation that it was about pedophilia practices... show us Comet Ping Pong’s menu, show us people there eating literal pizza, say foolish righties your dirty imagination got ahead of you, and go on with a smile. Not sure I have seen any of that. It’s like s’excuse, s’accuse (he who excuses himself accuses himself). I’d be tickled pink to be wrong. Nobody WANTS anybody, even their worst enemy, to be carrying out pedophilia. What did the children do to them to deserve that?

Fake News? Hell we have had that for years from the NBC/CBS/ABC/NYT/etal. Their truth is what they want it to be and that has been shoved down our throats for many years. Now they are squealing because the truth is coming out and they can’t stand being overruled.

The Chicago SUN-TIMEs does 0 investigative reporting of its own and simple deflects, smears and discredits those who would dare to bring it up.

In fact the more they use pizzagate as the fake news standard bearer the more people are exposed to the evidence.
