Health Reform: Democrats are predicting doom and gloom if Republicans make good on their ObamaCare repeal plans. Aren't these the same Democrats who promised that ObamaCare would be a huge success?
Early Thursday morning, the Senate voted 51-48 for a budget resolution that marks the first step toward the repeal of ObamaCare.
Democrats say repealing ObamaCare will strip millions of Americans of insurance, leave people with pre-existing medical conditions unable to find coverage, increase the budget deficit, and be a political nightmare for Republicans.
Let's leave aside for a moment the fact that Democrats also promised that ObamaCare would let you keep your plan, lower health costs, grow more popular by the day, and that Republicans would pay a steep political price for opposing it.
The fact is that these dire forecasts are all based on big myths peddled by Democrats and the mainstream media.
It will add 20 million to uninsured rolls. This is the most pervasive myth of all, repeated ad nauseam in every news story about the law.

Good, reasonable arguments and analysis.
I appreciate the final one: Voters have already chosen to repeal Obomacare three times.
In 2012, with the House turnover to Republicans.
In 2014, with the Senate turnover to Republicans.
In 2016, with the White House turned over to Republicans.
My new doctor is female. Their fingers are smaller.
I want video of Nancy Pelosi hyperventilating, then vomiting ... with Steny Hoyer holding her purse.
LOL
Why is that an indication that they also voted for a replacement? Every myth that the author tries to shoot down, he disputes because he claims that the Republicans will replace it with a better, cheaper, more effective alternative. I don't think that is necessarily true.
Repeal, don't replace. The market will sort it out in good time.
And I for one, am thankful for it !
I’d watch that.
I’d PAY to watch that.
Then you have the problem of the doctor who’s fingers are too short.
Democrats lie. It’s what they do. And Media regurgitates all their lies and puts them forth as truth. And the Democrat masses believe the lies because they read them in the Media. And the Media check their stories with the Democrats before the stories are printed. It is a circle. Round and round they go. Lie after lie. One BIG lie in their roundabout way is : ‘millions don’t have health insurance so they don’t get medical care’. The Left talked about all those people who didn’t have INSURANCE. Those were the people who were on Medicaid and could walk into any ER and get treated. But the Left convinced the masses that these people weren’t getting care, because they didn’t have any insurance. Which was the BIGGEST LIE of the whole scam. And the health insurance companies pushed Obamacare because ‘everyone will be required to carry health insurance’. So they would make more money. This whole episode in our history was a scam from the beginning. I will be soooo happy to see it die ASAP. Let the free market work. Let people pay only for the coverage they need, not the coverage that requires them to pay for health care options that they don’t need......like Seniors being required to carry maternity and pediatric dental. What a travesty the Dems forced on this once great country.
Pelosi lied recently stating that passing Obamacare was bi-partisan...
Replacement is actually pretty simple: 1) Tort reform, i.e., loser pays; 2) Interstate portability of health insurance - significant reduction in overhead costs; 3) Let the [real] free market do what it does best - competition - and watch costs go into a downward spiral.
Despite Republican control, the Legislative branch is still run by a majority of lawyers. Tort reform is anathema to ambulance chasers.
85% want DUMBOCARE REPEALED! it’s posted somewhere on FR.
Half the states have enacted tort reform of one kind or another. It's shown that it reduces malpractice insurance premiums but there is no evidence that it has had any impact on healthcare insurance premiums.
2) Interstate portability of health insurance - significant reduction in overhead costs;
No evidence that the insurance companies will go along with it. It would mean that they would have to establish networks of physicians, hospitals, and other providers in all states otherwise they have no control on their expenses. That's an expensive requirement they will probably not want to take on.
3) Let the [real] free market do what it does best - competition - and watch costs go into a downward spiral.
Removing all government subsidies will probably do more to lower costs than the other two suggestions you made.
Repeal could be harder. People currently enrolled in ACA should be allowed to continue receiving coverage through the term of their current policies. Premium credits should be continued until the current policies expire, but no longer thatn that. The "shared responsibility payment", should be abolished retroactively and taxpayers who paid it should get automatic refunds.
BTW, your list is a good start, but I would add enhanced HSAs and abolition of the miriad of agencies that were created to administer the ACA and control costs.
Real problem is MEDICARE/TRICARE LIFE or PRIME restrictions, and lack of coverage for medical reasons. That require what is deemed ‘cosmetic’ fixes. No coverage for hearing aids or eye glasses, and if they mess up your vision with improper cataract implants and you need Lasix to fix it, it’s not covered, $5K is a lot of retirement money, same goes for hearing. Hey a co-pay would be nice to help with those very expensive items. Glasses are $500 yearly. Only way you can save is to re use your old frames if they are usable and often they are not.
Peripheral Neuropathy, no matter what causes it it’s still PN still takes the same treatments, yet only Diabetics are covered 100%. Others are covered for Neurologist and meds. Not the orthotics and shoes. And those suckers are very expensive yearly. Number of days allowed in hospital or test done. My Upper Endoscope for Barret’s Esophagus a per-cancer, was every 2 yrs now is every 3 yrs. Same goes for bone density test, every 2 yrs, when it should be yearly you can’t measure how well meds work other wise. BTW ALL OP drugs are FDA FLAGGED take at your own risk. Thanks to DUMBO.
I have no issue with a co-pay, but we paid into both systems and get crap like this out of them. Lots of blood work is turned down.
Bkmk
Is all this with Obamacare? Or was it like this before?
