He should, out of appreciation alone. I’m not saying that Trump would have lost if not for the Comey announcement the week before the election but it certainly didn’t Trump’s chances.

As far as I know, Giuliani has little regard for Comey, but his is from the reference as a prosecutor

I’m sure he is also smart enough to know that Lynch and Clinton didn’t just talk about “grandkids” on Lynch’s airplane.

The visit was either to acknowledge Clinton was going to keep Lynch as AG or elevate her to the Supreme Court.

While I respect the Mayor, I’m sure there is a lot more to the back story than anyone realizes.

We will see how it goes. Perhaps this is just until he can get more of his team in place.

Maybe he can, maybe he can’t.

I fond the following in this, it is not specific under what circumstances the President can or cannot fire a FBI director.

Same reason Ford pardoned Nixon. To keep the country together. While we sit and pontificate here on FR, most of us would put country ahead of self. The left...not so much.

Again, speculation. Trump could have Clinton go through the embarrassment of a trial and conviction. That would appease (kind of) his followers and then by pardoning her would(could) take the mass demonstrations (with property damage) away from the left. Why demonstrate if her Highness is not going to jail?

For me, the key is to fully expose the depth of corruption within the Clinton Foundation and the Democrat party. I bet there were a lot of moderate Democrats that were appalled at the way demonstrators behaved at the Inaugural. These are potential voters for a Trump second term.

No one really knows what is going on behind the scenes. But right now Hillary is very vulnerable and could be the key to the demise of the Democrat party.

While you make a good point, only one director in all the years since the ten year term was put in place has served the ten years.

Many Presidents have asked for the resignation of the director and it has been delivered.

Trump is probably going to see what Sessions can get out of him and only make the change on his own time schedule. As you point out, this is not a cabinet office automatically changed at the start of a new administration.

I would like to see him gone to. Could be that Trump is waiting to get rid of later after Sessions gets in.

He is totally corrupt and has to go.

If the depth of corruption was fully exposed, I doubt a pardon could be justified.

My question is how did the NYSlimes get this story? Trump's administration hasn't announced it yet. He said there would be no more leaks to the press.

But now someone in the FBI leaked this to the Slimes? There's the problem right off the bat. Maybe not Comey directly but the political activist insiders who don't like Trump.

My bet is, that if this story is correct, Trump is retaining Comey as FBI Director for now, that he has something up his sleeve that we don't know about.

Leftist MSM and Hillary Democrats are all over this, with headlines, alleging this is proof that Comey and Trump conspired to defeat Hillary Clinton.

That will be the main story on all of the media today, with the intent to further try to de-legitimize the Trump election.

Although the opinion of some Democrats prior was that Trump should not fire Comey.

Dem rep: Trump replacement for Comey would be worse
By Nikita Vladimirov - 01/13/17

It would be better for current FBI Director James Comey to keep his job than have him replaced by President-elect Donald Trump, says one Democratic lawmaker.

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, said he wouldn’t call on Comey to resign over his actions in the election for fear of the alternative. He also said he still had trust in Comey’s judgment.

“The confidence of many members of Congress was quite low ... I was asked the question ‘should FBI director Comey be called on to resign?’ And I would say the answer to that is no,” Castro said in an interview with MSNBC.

“I still trust his judgement and his independence from the incoming president and the incoming administration more than I would trust anybody who Donald Trump appoints to take that job right now,” he said.

“It would still be better to keep him in place as somebody who is independent and didn’t come in from Donald Trump,” Castro added.

That was my first disbelief, actually - the New York Times.

But my comment about it if it is true that it is definitely something I’d write Trump about is still true, too.

If he can legally fire him, he should in my opinion. There are plenty of others who can pick up the mantle and exact justice fairly.

“He is totally corrupt and has to go.”

That’s pretty much what the Dems were saying just about ten days ago when they came out of the classified briefing over the “hacking” story.

I do think that he is very compromised, but asking now for his resignation would gum up the Sessions confirmation. I have no doubt that Trump’s decision here (if it is true) is being informed by Session’s input.

I think the corruption is probably deeper than most realize and may touch both sides of the aisle. But, the underlying cause is the good of the country and I think Trump may have to pardon Clinton just to keep the country from being ripped apart,

Remember when Obama was elected and on the day of his Inaugural, Republican rioted in the streets, broke windows, set fires? Or when Al Franken stole the election how the right demonstrated for days? Didn’t happen.

The left on the other hand has a propensity for violence that could tear the country apart. Hillary is the new Che...An American martyr.

As much as I would love to see her in a bright orange pantsuit, I don’t think the country could survive her incarceration. If nothing else. I fear a physical threat to the President from some left-wing loon.

And that’s why I think she gets a golden ticket.
