Why do they have a quorum rule that requires Democrats? Most bodies I've ever been involved with require 50 percent attendance to constitute a quorum. I believe that's what is required on the floor of the Senate. So why not half the committee? How many votes on the floor does it take to change the quorum rule?

Mitch and the pubbies don't even know what fighting back looks like.

Just have 1 republican on the committee change political party for the day.

Does he need to actually change parties or can he just identify as a Democrat?

Agreed.
Just finished watching Trump and New SC Judge. Those are Two Men who Stand Tall. Very American. Nice.

And can’t they change senate rules with a 50%+1 vote without any Democrats?

If they aren’t going to do their damn jobs, then kick their asses off the committee.

Tell them the equivalent of one staff member a day will be removed from their budget until they decide to do the job the American people elected them to do.

That’s how Harry Reid did it.

Good idea. Would love to see it!

What state legislators did that a few years back? Left TX and went to OK to avoid some votes is what I seem to recall...

“Just have 1 republican on th committee change political party for the day.

Vote on the candidate then change back.”

I like the way you think.

Couldn’t McConnell and Ryan just agree to a 15 minute recess of the congress and let Trump appoint them all as recess appointments?

Then let the democrats know, they will get NOTHING they want, unless they hold the votes?

Yeah, you never saw this kind of nonsense when the 400 pound wise latina or the manly fur-trapper Kagan were being voted on.
The `rats whip Juan McCain wouldn’t stand for it.

Wisconsin Dems also fled the state to IL to avoid voting.

“They only need to haul one Democrat in I believe; any one. They should set up a raffle to let voters pick which one, help balance the budget.”

I’m assuming this is a quorum issue. How about changing the committee composition. Or making a temporary change in size and appointments. The majority has the power to do that.

It took force to win our freedom. It will take force to keep it! Stop being a wimp!

As a lover of freedom, I don’t like to see any use of force
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That’s a rather odd juxtaposition of ideas. Throughout history countless people who also disliked the use of force employed the use of deadly force BECAUSE they were lovers of freedom.

McConnell can recess the senate and President Trump can appoint the nominees in their absence.

No need for any “hauling”.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Aren’t recess appointments temporary?

&&&

Wisconsin Dems also fled the state to IL to avoid voting.

*********

And Republicans now control the legislatures in TX and WI. I say let ‘em go ahead and continue this nonsense.

Reid was a disgusting excuse for a legislator, but he certainly knew how to wield his power and he wasn’t hesitant to use it.

Your construction is even more odd. In order to have freedom, we must force others to act in ways they would rather not. (That kind of reminds me of the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court case.) It also has the feel of "we must destroy the village in order to save it".
