WASHINGTON (Reuters) - About 900 U.S. State Department officials signed an internal dissent memo protesting a travel ban by U.S. President Donald Trump on refugees and travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries, a source familiar with the document said on Tuesday, in a rebellion against the new president's policies.

A senior State Department official confirmed the memorandum had been submitted to acting Secretary of State Tom Shannon through the department's "dissent channel," a process in which officials can express unhappiness over policy (http://bit.ly/2jOYW0y).

White House spokesman Sean Spicer said on Monday he was aware of the memo but warned career diplomats that they should either "get with the program or they can go."

A draft of the dissent memo seen by Reuters argued that the executive order would sour relations with affected countries, inflame anti-American sentiment and hurt those who sought to visit the United Spates for humanitarian reasons.

It said the policy "runs counter to core American values of non-discrimination, fair play and extending a warm welcome to foreign visitors and immigrants.

Trump on Friday signed an executive order that temporarily bans refugees and people from seven Muslim-majority countries, sparking tumult at U.S. airports and protests in major American cities.

Government employees (those few I know) seem to suffer from an inflated opinion of their own worth.

Glad they made it easy for our new President. There are 900 who don’t need to be discussed when the Big RIF is in process. Fish in a barrel.

A distant, late relative of mine was a 45-year careerist with State in both the diplomatic and economic divisions of the Department.

Folks' hair would stand on end if they knew how riddled with traitors, anti-Americans, marxists, pro-Arabs/anti-Semites, etc. this Department has been both before and after the days of Alger Hiss who was a State Dept. official, communist, spy and perjurer in the Cold War days.

The leftist atmosphere of State for way over half-a-century is why the sorry likes of socialists and globalists like Edmund Muskie, Madeleine Halfbright, Colin Powell, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry felt so comfortable and akin with the State Department culture when they were appointed as secretaries of state.

Of all the cabinet departments in the DC swamp milieu, the State Department is the one that has to be drained the most comprehensively from the top down.

I pray President Trump will stick the pipe into State's rear door and begin the draining forthwith and energetically.

“Fire them ALL!...................... “

This only confirms how diseased and stinky foggy a$$ is. It needs a communoscopy, YESTERDAY!

Our foreign service is stacked, top to bottom, with communists who shamelessly colluded with our foreign enemies in the UN and parts of the world. They agreed and validated anti-American sentiments and stood by the globalist crowd.

We can manage without so many creeps stroking creepy countries. I second your call:

Fire them ALL!......................

What you relate through personal anecdote is what I’ve long held as a personal belief. Thank you. If ever a pogrom was needed.

Exactly, let them go out and find a new job in Obama's wonderful economy.

Another area that needs immediate attention is to expose and prosecute those bankrolling the riots! We know their names, but they must be dealt with immediately. Jail and prison time for those doing the rioting as well. Gitmo needs more inmates ya think? Those rioting and destroying property are domestic terrorists, thus, Gitmo is appropriate, in my opinion.

If these bureaucrats don’t want to faithfully carry out the policies of an administration that was legally elected they can either resign or be let go. They need to be reminded that we don’t work for them. They work for us.
