Executive Power Run Amok
The New York Times ^ | 06 Feb 2017 | John Yoo

Posted on 02/06/2017 10:04:18 AM PST by Theoria

Faced with President Trump’s executive orders suspending immigration from several Muslim nations and ordering the building of a border wall, and his threats to terminate the North American Free Trade Agreement, even Alexander Hamilton, our nation’s most ardent proponent of executive power, would be worried by now.

Article II of the Constitution vests the president with “the executive power,” but does not define it. Most of the Constitution instead limits that power, as with the president’s duty “to take care that the laws are faithfully executed,” or divides that power with Congress, as with making treaties or appointing Supreme Court justices.

Hamilton argued that good government and “energy in the executive” went hand in hand. In The Federalist No. 70, he wrote that the framers, to encourage “decision, activity, secrecy and dispatch,” entrusted the executive power in a unified branch headed by a single person, the president.

Many of Hamilton’s intellectual admirers today endorse the theory of the unitary executive, which holds that the Constitution grants the president all of the remaining executive powers that existed at the time of the founding. These include the powers to conduct foreign affairs, protect the national security, interpret and execute the law and manage all lower-level federal officers.

Yes, because he know how to wield it properly, i.e. support Leftist ideals.

Here is the reality versus this latest fake news by the NY Slimes:

United States president Donald Trump signed 18 executive orders and memos in his first 12 days in office, for an average of 1.5 executive actions per day. While that may seem like an unprecedented bombardment of policy, the number of actions signed by Trump is actually one short of his predecessor. In his first 12 days in office in 2009, Barack Obama signed 19 executive actions.

The New York Times lost all basis for complaining about overused executive power when they said NOTHING condemnatory about any executive order ever issued.

To do so now is just confirmation of how insanely ideological these ghouls truly are. This paper of record, journalists of repute and so on are not to be believed at any level, frankly. Including Mr. Yoo.

Faced with President Trump’s executive orders suspending immigration from several Muslim nations....

Interesting the way the Left chooses to phrase things to reflect what they want. Saying "several Muslim nations" is like when they complain that prisons are full of black men, without taking into account the crime rate of said black men.

Yep, let all of the communist S.O.B.s raise their eyebrows and pretend to be wise while they are telling the stupid population just what is good or bad as if the people did not have the sense to figure out for themselves what is right and wrong.

It is wrong for the Government to give this country away to any one, much less the enemies of America which they have proclaimed to be again and again, get them out of here so we can again be free.

Also the North American free trade agreement has put us into captivity, terminate it so we can again be free.
