Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian announced after a meeting of airline chiefs with President Donald Trump that the carrier plans to hire 25,000 people over the next five years.
Atlanta-based Delta has about 80,000 employees around the world, and hires regularly in some areas due to turnover. The company did not specify in its statement whether the 25,000 figure includes replacement hiring due to attrition, what the hiring might be contingent on and how much of it would be organic growth of the airline.
Bastian in a written statement released after the Thursday morning meeting of airline CEOs with Trump at the White House said the hiring would be done “with the support of a level playing field globally.” Delta executives have been raising concerns about what they say is an un-level playing field with Middle East carriers that they say unfairly receive subsidies from their governments and fly to the United States.

And as a Delta Diamond flyer, the best use of those 25,000 new staff is to (1) replace all of their management and counter staff at JFK and (2) replace non-English speaking crew on domestic flights. Very tired of cabin staff that barely speak English.
My last Delta flight my checked bag took five days to reach me. Maybe after they hire all these people they can cut it down to four.
And yet we still see, "Trump didn't do this or that yet!"
Some folks are just plain freaking nuts!
Oh clearly this has nothing to do with Trump....a federal judge should bar Delta from polluting the skies, and shut down this illegal sweat shop...
On the other hand I flew JFK to Puerto Vallarta last month and was surprised that none of the crew announcements to passengers were in Spanish. When I pointed it out to a flight attendant she was surprised. She'd never even thought about it.

I fly Delta all the time. Their service for me as been excellent.

I gave up on Delta a long time ago. Long story, but wow did they disappoint. Its the only airline I will not fly on.
Any minute now liberals will call for a boycott of Delta, file an ethics complaint against someone in the Trump administration for promoting a business, and accuse the CEO of being racist.
It’s all part of their Make America Lose Even More campaign.
Frontier Airlines is looking for pilots. They need over 250.
Oh. I left off the part where the news media will report the possibly terrible consequences of Delta’s decision.
