Does Times Reporting Support Donald Trump’s Wiretap Claim? (NY Times Implosion Underway)
The New York Times ^ | MARCH 8, 2017 | Liz Spayd THE PUBLIC EDITOR

Posted on 03/08/2017 7:32:28 AM PST by Helicondelta

Several readers have written in this week saying they’re having a hard time squaring The Times’s own past reports of wiretapping with the paper’s assertions that there is no firm evidence that any warrants for wiretaps have been issued. Readers also expressed confusion with The Times’s assertion that it would be illegal for a White House to receive information about such investigations, when its own wiretapping story in January said the Trump White House was given some information from intercepted communications.

“For months now the NY Times and many other mainstream news sources has been running stories based on anonymous leaks saying that a massive investigation was going on into Trump and company’s Russian dealings based on wiretaps and intel intercepts,” wrote John Penley of Asheville, N.C. “Now Obama officials are saying this all never happened so my question is this: Why have the NY Times and others been saying it has for months now basing their stories on anonymous leaks?”

I reached out to editors in the Washington bureau to seek their help in clarifying the difference between Clapper’s — and The Times’s — assertions that no warrants had been issued, and the reference to wiretapping in the January story.

Elisabeth Bumiller, the bureau chief, said the January story was referring to information picked up from wiretaps and other intelligence collected overseas, a process that requires no warrants.

And just how did this information come into the hands OF THE NEW YORK TIMES? Is the Times 'in' with MI6 or did an American intelligence agent share classified information with reporters (reporters on 'their' side)?

My guess is the Times is lying or splitting hairs.... The press works hand in glove with people trying to destroy President Trump using means legal or not - treasonous or not... Duely elected doesn't matter to these so-called 'elites'. They think they know better than 'the people'...

Our 'intelligence services' are lying too - and the deep (shallow) state will do their best to cover up their lies FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.Why? BECAUSE JERKS IN DC... FROM THE PRESS TO CORRUPT MONEY-GRUBBERS TO THE TRAITORS ARE ON THE SAME SIDE - AGAINST THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Yes well, we did, but we didn’t, but they said they did and they may have, but anonymous sources said they did but “sources close to somebody” said they didnt and we are clarifying that...blah blah blah....

That’s about the way they write all this ##FAKENEWS### these days.

I despise liberals. they don;t even live in the real world, and only can see the world through their own eyes , due to their selfish agenda.
They lie all the time, and are never open to discussion with facts. All they can do is take a talking point and repeat it.

For instance yesterday there was a woman who kept telling people under the GOP plan if you are 60 to 65 years old you will have to pay five times more for health care now. There she was telling all the older people this.
I asked where did you get that info from as I am reading the bill and have not seen that.
Half hour later she must have been on the internet and said section 135.
I then read that section and told her that age is not even mentioned, and it does not mention at all what she said.
Silence from her since then. It seems she was probably lied to, and then went on the internet to a liberal website which was spreading lies, and she repeated this lies.
She obviously never read the bill .

That is why I hate liberals. They lie all the time and act like drama queens. If you mention facts they then resort to name calling.

That was the most convoluted, desperate attempt of cya I have ever read. It was pure gibberish. I can’t even say, “nice try.”

This article would be positively hilarious if this wasn’t so damn serious.

I don’t think it matters if he ordered it or not. He gets daily intel briefs, he knew about it and was ok with it. As there was no evidence found he should have been demanding it be shut down, he didn’t.

There’s no difference.

I’ve heard a few “experts” mention GCHQ and MI-6, neither of which would touch this with a ten-foot pole...

Last night on TV, I saw the writer of the NYTimes piece desperately trying to explain why "what he wrote doesn't` mean what it quite obviously reads."

His explanation was an epic failure. I wish I could remember which program I watched, but I'm pretty sure it was Anderson Cooper's because I was channel surfing and I came across that "multi view feauture" on my TV: 4 TV news shows at a time.

Instead of asking the agencies if THEY bugged Trump, ask them if Trump tower WAS bugged and is in continuing to be monitored. Keep the question simple and to the point. The response might be interesting.

BTW, US intelligence agencies know if someone at Trump's level was being monitored by the US or others. THEY KNOW!

"Better if The Times helps readers understand this crucial story than let others, with flagrant political motives, do so."

Good to know that The Times is without "flagrant political motives" . . .
