Israel has lots of experience dealing with Syrian AA systems. During the Isreali invasion of Lebanon in 1982 the IAF learning the lessons from the Yom Kippur War destroyed the Syrian SAM bases in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. The operation saw the first large use of drones to entice the Syrians to turn on their radars enabling HARM missiles to take them out.

Why was Israel flying over Syria in the first place? I assume it was in retribution for some attack of Assad on Israeli forces but I never heard of any provocation. What is going on there? I thought Trump was supposed to work out an agreement with Assad as part of the Syrian peace process. Things are still down the rabbit hole there, it appears.

I can't imagine Israel being able to act the way does for too much longer. Old Testament relationships with your neighbors can be sustained for only so long. And that's with an almost unlimited amount of dollars from the U.S. taxpayers (adjusting for inflation it's a quarter of a trillion dollars since 1948-- even excluding never repaid loans: https://fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/RL33222.pdf

I can't imagine the coming demographic makeup of America, ironically, pushed for by Israel's biggest supports in Congress, will be agreeable to sending a huge chunk of its foreign budget to this project, nor will they be able to do so.

That bluster only works if Russia permits them to be destroyed - else its a Israeli-Russian air war at the least - omitting the fleet of heavy missile cruisers stationed off the Syrian coast and the ones in the Caspian.

Hezbollah’s commander said Russia directly supplies Hezbollah with weaponry.

http://www.jpost.com/Middle-East/Hezbollah-commanders-say-Russia-directly-arming-them-with-long-range-missiles-441124

It would be difficult to think Hamas and Hezbollah get weapons through the Shia Crescent that are only Iranian made.

Picture if Venezuela supplied terrorists on the border to fire weapons, missiles, etc. at the US. Would one be saying, well, the US can’t go into Mexico after these terrorists, that’s a sovereign nation.

It does appear the situation is heating up a bit in this area; and a counter attack on the Syrian Govt. in Damascus today.

If Syria doesn’t want to be bombed by Israel all they have to do is stop shipping advanced weapons to terrorists in Lebanon.

Nothing reported from this area can be believed. However, if Israel is threatening Syria, the Russians may become involved. This can easily escalate. The U.S. has sent troops into Syria without a declaration of war or invitation from the Syrian government. Are we going to repeat of great success in Libya? We came, we saw, he died. HaHaHa.

Some of those AA systems are way too close to Safed for my personal liking. Hezbollah/ISIS/WHATEVER THEY ARE CURRENTLY CALLING THEMSELVES can easily take over those positions.

Better to get rid of them now.
